3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap for the season at Lunar Brewing Co., dispensed to a shaker, displaying a clear & bright, orangey amber color, frothy, soft white head foam that turned into a cakey, fairly persistent layer, and spots & spray of lacing. The aroma was some floral perfume and expressive spice notes as cinnamon, ginger, maybe some minty cardamon, and a hint of orange peel. Medium bodied, the spices remained vibrant in the taste, lively carbonation gave the moderate, earthy bitterness added assertiveness, and a bit of malty graininess was noted, along with a touch of honey-like sweetness that danced on the tongue, but faded toward the finish. An aggressively spiced Vienna Lager that reminded me some of Boston Beer’s same style offering, except with more lingering spice, and a fuller body.
