3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shaker pint draft at the brew pub in Villa Park, Illinois. Pour is orange haze with a smallish white head. Aroma is grass, straw and some light citrus notes. Taste is the grassy citrus, I suppose that would be lemongrass up front, followed by a nice cracker malt. There is a sweetness as well, which is also a citrus sweetness. I got a touch of soap cleanser as well, not sure if that was from the glass or in the beer - didn’t detract too much. Palate is light bodied, unfiltered mouth feel and a crisp clean finish. Really easy to drink.

This review is dedicated to the Kolsch King. When at Lunar if you see him say Hi. This is a good Kolsch. Cloudier than I expected. Slightly grassy flavor. Serving: Tap

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Another offering at the brewery- Bright, bright yellow colour. Medium sized white head. Aroma of corn and saaz (maybe?) hops and fresh cut grass. Taste was decent. Firm malt backbone, finishes slightly metallicy. Decent brew.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2009 Just put on tap at Lunar Brewing. Pint served, and poured at this point, a little cloudy, and golden/amber. The head was white and diminishing, leaving some light lacing. The aroma had the slightest touch of sweetness, malt, and a little yeast. Light bready/malt tones, subtle Tettnang notes and a pleasant but light dryness completed the flavor. Medium to light bodied, with a clean, sessionable nature. Clarified and other small additions as light grain and apple notes in aroma on further review. +1

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. The body was dark gold and nearly amber. There was a thin white head on top. The aroma was malty with some sweet cake donuts. There was also some black cherries. The taste was bread crust with some olives. There was also some peanut. A good version of the style.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Designed to be a transitionary ale to get BMC drinkers to try real beer, this is very light and drinkable. Yellow with a foamy white head, it’s got a sweet, spicy malt aroma. Medium-bodied, the flavor is a grainy, crisp malt flavor. The finish is crisp and clean. Now if they can only get the local sweill drinkers to try it!

On Tap @ Lunar. Slightly hazy yellow with a half inch of foamy white head that stays until the last sip.Lacing is sticky and abundant. Nose is toasty and grassy. Body is light and fluffy. First taste is toasty malts, light but refreshing. Middle is toasty as well. Finishes grassy and dry with some spiciness. Ultra clean and ultra fresh.
