brewpub, on tap. Pours nicely deep amber , white head. Grapefruit and sublte spice in the aroma. More grapefruit and aggressive bittering are balanced by mediun caramel, molasses and roastiness. Finishes with a bitterness that lingers but making you want more.

On tap at brewpub. Pours orangish copper with thick white head. Aroma is very hoppy with citrus, pine and caramel malts. Flavor heavy on hops with grapefruit and other citrus flavors with notes of pine and some malts. Very good brew but could use some more malts to add some balance.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheAlum (4270) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - JAN 15, 2012
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Villa Park, IL). Pours a nice glowing copper amber hue, a bit more sunny of the edges, quite reddish with a nice healthy frothy tan or offwhite head atop. Thicker film, dies down. Aromas are a decent dose of citrusy grapefruit, lemon, florals. Touches of grass, gentle spice, and some touches of pale malts, bread, and faint toast. Initial is medium bodied, offering a healthy dose of fruity citrus hops, lots of grapefuit and rind, touches of lemon, florals, grass. The hops grow, middle shows dry bitter hops, touches of bread and biscuits. A touch of melon, more lemon, and a decent biscuity pale malts quality gives a touch of body into the finish. Overall, a pretty pleasant (though not a hop screamer) type of IPA. Solid in everyway, fairly fresh. Tasty.

Beautiful unfiltered copper-orange in color with a creamy tan head. Aroma reveals fresh hops, orange blossoms, lilacs, honey and pine sap. Medium-bodied and bearing an orange crème trait not uncommon to some of this brewery’s beers. Tingly at times with a solid understanding for the style. Some papaya and grapefruit manifest mid-sip, sweetened with sugar sprinkles and nectar. A nice IPA.

Overall, a solid IPA. C Hops dominate with a nice even body. Bitterness is not over the top, with a good malt presence. Nice.

A well hopped, semi bitter noticeably floral IPA. Clear coppper, partly cloudy with a wonderful nose. I know a good IPA when I taste one. piney with some forest floor coming forward out of the aroma. Not too dry, alcohol is noticeable toward the end. Great beer!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 kane (111) - USA - APR 2, 2005
Same appearance as their bitters, the head lasts a little longer. Initially for the amount of hop taste it has the aroma takes a long time to catch up with warming. Once it does it has a resin quality to it. Nice flavor and balance. It gets better the more I sip it.

Thanks for the growler, JoeM500! This brew captures your attention with its lovely amber and rasberry hues and hoppy aroma. I couldn't wait to taste it! Exceptionally creamy and oily palate for an IPA, and tart, with a really smooth finish. I liked it.
