This year’s summer Porter. A smoky, dark roasted Munich malt ale hopped with East Kent Goldings.

On tap at Lunar long ago. Pours a brown black with an off white head that laces down. Aroma is yeasty creamy with roasted sweet notes, but really that yeast is strong. Roasted malt flaovrs that are lightly sweet. Dry roasted finish. Decent charred flavor with a burnt hop finish. Ok.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2015 Had at Lunar. Good porter. Summer Porter is a good description, lighter in body than others in the style. Serving: Tap

Another offering from Lunar, decent dark brownish black colour with a medium sized tan head. Mouthfeel came across a little thin, not watery but just not enough structure. Taste was overall pretty pleasent but wish it was a little bit heavier.

On tap at the brewpub: This poured a deep brown body which, held up to natural light, had ruby highlights, and was topped with a foamy tan head. Lots of lace - the norm for Lunar. The aroma was malty, lightly roasted, with a hint of chocolate and some earthiness. It tasted much like the aroma with the addition of an herbal bitterness and a touch sof sourness right at the end. Very drinkable.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2009 Pint served at the brewpub, a black/brown color with a light tan, foamy head that diminished slowly to a bubbly film, and left a curtain of clingy, light tan lacing. The aroma was roasted malt and coffee. The flavor continued these notes with the assistance of a persistent, baker’s chocolate dryness, which teamed up with the hops toward the end to form a pleasant, dry/bitter finish. The body was a little lighter than many of this style but followed the summer Porter description.
