3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a hazy dark orange-amber with a clumpy white head that leaves bits of lacing. Aroma is a nice burst of tart berries -- not at all candy-like or excessively sweet. Flavor -- tastes like the old-school Celis Raspberry from its Austin days: raspberries add a measure of tartness and some sweetness without being intrusive, overbearing, or contrived. Cream ale plays an equal role here asserting its vanilla and lactose characteristics with a surprising bit of hop bitterness at the end. Palate is kind of clunky for a beer that appears as carbonated as this one does. A good refreshing brew, this is an actual fruit beer instead of a beer with fruit flavoring thrown in as an afterthought.

On tap at Lunar in July, ’06. we had a fresh batch that had just been tapped that day. Solid mix of raspberry and hops flavor, not overly sweet. Hints of red in color, but didn’t look like fruit jiuce.

Had this on draught in Villa Park, Illinois. For a fruit beer, this one does the job. Medium yellow pour with a filmy head, pronounced nose of raspberries, with honey and baked bread notes. Finishes clean. This one is a keeper.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Golden-amber colored with a slim head. Sour and prominent raspberry aroma and flavor, resting on the body of an ale rather than a wheat which is usually the norm. Odd but interesting. Only had a sample of this, but it was better than your average BrewPub fruit beer.

Very sweet raspberry notes...like jam. Creamy smooth texture...(nitro? dunno) Weird hop bitterness I did not expect. OK!

Hazy gold and beautiful with a white ice sheet for the head. Raspberry preserves aroma, along with honey, hollandaise, vanilla and bananas. Raspberry flavoring, ringing like a bit out of a raspberry jam sandwich on white bread. Finish rings with raspberry seeds and Wonderbread. Nice starter and fruit beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUL 4, 2005 Like all drinks on tap at Lunar Brewing, this looks great - a bright orange color with a huge creamy head. The aroma is of fresh raspberries with an additional tartness. The berries carry the flavor without being overwhelming. There’s a slightly bitter finish that seems out of place, but otherwise this is a decent drink.

A bit hazy with a near perfect head. Nice raspberry and cream aroma that smells a little like candy. Goes down smooth like a fruit wheat beer. Semi bitter and sweet and is a nice beer to start the evening off with.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy gold with a great fluffy white head, sticky lace. Strong fresh raspberry nose. Light bodied. First taste is toasty light malts and then a burst of real raspberrt, so much nicer than the average brewpubs raspberry wheats. Some bitterness at the finish, the vanilla does show up, but more in the aftertaste after the swallow. Surprisingly good.
