COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark brown bordeaux-coloured beer with a firm broken-white head. The aroma is pleasant, with some pear and roasted nuts. The palate is nutty, with some chocolate impressions followed by exotic fruit. This beer with strong character has a beautiful finish with some bitter hop and caramel.

Donkerbruine kleur, weinig beige schuim.

Bottle at home. Dark brown with a good white creamy head which lasts well. The aroma is light chocolate with roast coffee undertones. The flavour is similar but less pronounced.

Bottle at home. Pours dark with an off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits and malts. Taste is sweet, malts, dark fruits, and a metallic taste that becomes more pronounced toward the end of the bottle where it becomes really unpleasant in the aftertaste. Too bad of the metallic taste, otherwise quite okay.

CONCLUSION : une bière assurément rude à apprécier.

Looks great, nearly pitch black with a foam head that lasts. Carbonation is OK too, medium body. Taste is roast at first but then followed by cough drop and caramel. Metallic comes in and takes over the finish. Couldn’t convince me.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a fast-dying slight head of tan. Aroma of roasted malt, alcohol, coffee, nuts, earth and some subdued vanilla. Medium-bodied; Assertive yeast and funk up front with a lot of earth, nuts, caramel and raisins noticeable. Aftertaste shows a relatively sweet flavour, but some deeper malt and figs coming through, all with a little nuttiness and a light cherry finish. Overall, a decent beer, but a bit mixed up in the style - i’m not sure what this is supposed to be, but i’d characterise it as an old ale or a traditional belgian ale. Great to sample, but not really worth bringing it back across the atlantic with all of the other options. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Beer Mania in Bruxelles, Belgium on 19-August-2013 for €2,25 sampled at home in Washington on 01-February-2014.

330ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, dark brown colour with huge, thick, foamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, beige head. Nuttily dark malty aroma, fruity overtones of red berries. Taste is initially minimally tart fruity, notes of red berries, slightly spicy yeasty overtones, a dry touch of fruit parings in the middle part, subtle sweetness with a chocolately touch close to the finish; controlled lively carbonation.
