COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark brown bordeaux-coloured beer with a firm broken-white head. The aroma is pleasant, with some pear and roasted nuts. The palate is nutty, with some chocolate impressions followed by exotic fruit. This beer with strong character has a beautiful finish with some bitter hop and caramel.

Bottle. An unclear, reddish brown beer topped by a finger-thick, light beige head. Prunes, dark sugars, some roasted malts and caramel in the aroma. Yeast too. The flavor has an almost unpleasant hoppy bitterness, else it’s more or less the same as the aroma. Full body, sort of too carbonated. Bitter, lightly roasted finish. Overall, too yeasty, and there’s also some vegetables. Not DMS, but green asparagus or broccoli. 130516

330 ml bottle at home, poured into a tulip glass. ABV 8.5%. 1.83€ Very deep mahogany brown colour on the body, with dark ruby shades whem hold agianst the light. Huge head, almost four fingers, light beige in colour, very soapy thick with fantastic retention. I don’t think I have ever seen a beer’s foam holding so well and for so long before.Heavy lacing left around the glass as the foam goes slowly, very slowly, down. Aroma of roasted malts, along with sweet chocolate, and some yeast notes. Taste is a sweet one, but not sickenly sweet. Roasted malts here too, dark fruits, red grapes and a light alcohol taste, notable but not offensive, on the other hand it amplifies and intensifies all the other flavours. The yeast is not traceable at all until you get a sip with a bit of the ever-lingering foam. Medium to thick body, very good amount of carbonation and fairly dry on the palate. Overall this was a great beer. Very high drinkability and serious complexity. Recommended.

Bottled from local Mitra. Clear dark brown color, thick creamy brown head. Aroma of spicy belgian yeast, red fruit like grapes and cherry, raisin, grapes. Some biscuit and cookie as well. Taste is quite sweet, but also dry. Again I get a lot of cookie maltiness and raisins, like in the best of the Abt beers. I suspect loads of special B malt. Finishes slightly bitter even. Soft alcohol burn, but very well hidden. This is seriously a great brew in tradition of the best of dark belgian strong ales. Top notch.
