3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. A dense, finger-thick off-white head leaves lacings as the more or less clear, dark amber to brown body slides down my throath. Yeasty, sugary aroma with prunes and some grassy, piney hops. The flavor is pretty much the same, too sugary and yeasty I think, with prunes and some caramel hints. Decent bitterness. Full body, some warmth. Pleasant carbonation. As for Wolf 7 & 8, it’s way too yeasty. Else it’s quite decent. 130516

Bottleshare at Leighton’s flat. Thanks to Daniel. Lightly hazy amber beer, massive cream coloured head. Palate is airy and mildly dry. Mild fine carbonation. Floral sweetness. Carmel malts. Tangy fruits, mostly generic but some plum notable. Seltzer. Light dry finish. Tasty enough, but a tad dry.

Medium sweet flavor with simple doughy brown bread, mild yeast expression, toffee, dried semi-dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, lightly phenolic, more brown bread, faint grains, earth. Not bad.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB Apr 2016, large sample. Slight hazy copper color, big frothy light brown head. Aroma of caramel, spicy yeast, bit peppery, coriander, bit fruity. Bit dry in taste, slight sweet, some wheat notes, high fusels, alcohol, soft bitterness. Bit high on carbonation, although it could fit the style. I was pleasantly surprised by the Wolf 7 and 8, but this one is dominated a bit too much by yeast and alcohol. Ok, but prefer the other ones.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
kleur: amber met flinke dikke schuimkraag. geur: fruitig peer en kruidig. smaak: fruitig, en daarna scherp kruidig.
Begint goed, maar de kruidige nasmaak vind ik niet geweldig. Alcoholpercentage is merkbaar hoog

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The Wolf 9 has a complex taste with an individual character. You might expect a Dubbel, but the Wolf 9 is far from being one. It’s a dark strong ale that welcomes you with a coffee flavor, soon accompanied by bitter hop notes and some citric hints. And even as this beer has 9%, the taste is much lighter which is a result of using barley and wheat malt. The only negative point is a slight hint of "wet dog" flavor. Not too present but detectable. The aftertaste is full of alcohol and some descent sweetness. Lasts for quite a while in the mouth.
Houling with the wolves? Definitely YES! This is very pleasant beer full of character with a slight hint of "wet dog" that irritates. Without, this beer would have scored significantly better.
