Lurgashall English / Celtic / Christmas Mead

[At The Evening Star, Brighton] A light yellow mead with no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of honey and lesser notes of flowers - and so is the flavor.

Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Pale straw colour. Evident honey pastille aroma and flavour. Sweet and soothing, mildly herba with a touch of menthe. Warmng, but well sweet for me.

the mulling mutes the sweetness in the aroma and brings out the spices, much more complex with lots of spiced flavor, only a hint of sweetness, heat thins the body,

75cl bottle shared with Haddonsman in Reading. Pale gold, honey, sweet nougat aroma. Nicely sweet, but some sourness on end. Bit of nail varnish. Bit naive, but drinkable.

Pours a flat clear champagne color. Sticky sweet pure honey aroma with a touch of alcohol. Body is syrupy sweet with a nice honey presence and a dry lingering finish, which helps to conceal the alcohol. Subtle complexities throughout, but not quite as well balanced as it could be.
