4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Volle body. Goed!

MF: hop bitterness, very complex. bitter and dry. alcohol is very warming. combination between hop, yeast, dark malts, chocolate. Okey beer. nice quadrupel. but still missing something here. smooth to almost even body. low on carbonation, gives it a gentle warming character.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Commissioned by De Lustige Brouwers. Hazy, chestnut brown ale with off-white, stable head and fruity sweet aroma, banana, candi sugar, pear, chocolate, orange, coffee grounds. Taste begins with a soft, yeasty, sweetish fruitiness, caramelly malts, bit chocolatey, mild herbal hoppiness in the finish. Okay but not as lush and opulent as one would expect from a beer labelled ’quadrupel’.

Bottle shared by my uncle. Thanks Ino! Nice dark red-brown color with a nice red glare coming through, decent sized beige to light brown head. Don’t get a lot of aroma. Taste malts, lightly alcohol, a hint of caramel, lightly bitter. Medium body, firm carbonation.

This is a veeeeery good beer. The first landing on your tongue is dry. Hoppy and chocolaty bitter. Very soon, the fruity notes of orange peel flows in, making you think of one of these delicious Côte d’Or dark chocolates with orange. A wonderful combination. The brewers themselves mark on the bottle that a banana taste should appear at one moment - but unfortunetely it didn’t make it’s appearance in my mouth. Or let say fortunately as the taste didn’t need a banana. The after taste is heavy, sticks in your mouth as if you’ve just sucked a licorice drop. This is why I love Quadrupel’s - as they last in your mouth and you can enjoy even without sipping!
It’s a wonderful Quadrupel to be enjoyed on a cold winter evening in front of your chimney. (Yes, I tasted it in summer - but I have a lot of imagination ;-))

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.33L bottle. Pours clear dark mahoganry with a small tan head. Aromas are fairly mild, but nice malt: cinammon, chocolate, roasty malt. Flavor is medium sweet, with lots of bready malt, cinammon and bitter chocolate. Middle goes to roast malt, then finishes with a long, herby and resiny hop and roasted malt. finish with lingerin alcohol. Full body with a thick mouthfeel and average carbonation. Overall, decent enough, but not fantastic. Some nice flavors and aromas, and balances off the malt well.
