Volle body. Goed!

Sample at Gents Bierfestival 2014. THX for sharing today’s beers! APPEARANCE: light clouded brown beer, small unstable beige head. NOSE: anise, some chocolate, some coffee. TASTE: some chocolate, some coffee, oke, but lacks a lot...

Bottle shared by my uncle. Thanks Ino! Nice dark red-brown color with a nice red glare coming through, decent sized beige to light brown head. Don’t get a lot of aroma. Taste malts, lightly alcohol, a hint of caramel, lightly bitter. Medium body, firm carbonation.

Commissioned by De Lustige Brouwers. Hazy, chestnut brown ale with off-white, stable head and fruity sweet aroma, banana, candi sugar, pear, chocolate, orange, coffee grounds. Taste begins with a soft, yeasty, sweetish fruitiness, caramelly malts, bit chocolatey, mild herbal hoppiness in the finish. Okay but not as lush and opulent as one would expect from a beer labelled ’quadrupel’.

Sampled @ Gents Bierfestival 2014. 330 ml. bottle. Average spare dark head, cloudy brown beer. Very sweet, simple & sugar heavy, herbs, perfume, caramel, cereal, liquorish, allspice, bit thin body. No depth, just sugar & bit thin. Leffe Quadrupel.

Small yellowish rim over deep red-brown beer. Pine, cypress, incense and a LOT of molasses syrup. Sweet, fruity and yeasty notes. Bit nutty, and the bitterness is walnutpeel. Well-bodied, if certainly not really rich as one would expect from a "Quadrupel" whatever that might mean; I’d agree on a dark tripel. Well-carbonated. Bit disappointing.

Drinking blind from a 33 cl bottle. In the aroma perfume, strawberries, peach, alcohol, raisins, vineuse. The clear red brown beer, has a small brown head. Sweet but also bitter. Sweet liquorice. Medium carbonated.

Bottle @ Delirium Cafe, Brussels. As Smisje Eden Quad. Pours dark brown with a creamy white head. Dark rich malty flavor with a lot of complexity. Chocolate, licorice, anis and fruit. Warming and tasty sipper. Great!

UPDATED: AUG 13, 2014 Bottle 33cl. Dark brown with light brown creamy head. Nose has hints of chocolate, roasted malt and little banana. Very rich taste which compliments the flavour and some star anis. Very nice beer. Perfect in balance with a nice bitter finish.
