UPDATED: MAY 27, 2015 Really deep red-brown, beige head. Shows some promise at first, when is starts with some burnt malts and salty, but after a while as you get used to it, it feels more and more as a mega-dunkel (or a doppelbock) - full of malt, with a touch of alcohol and a solid phenolic bitterness. Good, but... would want more.

9-JUNE-2013. Head: coffee, medium, frothy, avg. retention. Colour: deep red-brown, clear. Aroma: caramel, chocolate, licorice, some kind of medicine/cough syrup, roasted. Taste: intense, sweet, chocolate, licorice, pretty bitter, roasted, some alcohol too. A strong and solid porter. 6-4-7-3-14.

The beer has a lovely look. The color is a beautiful dark ruby red with a brownish glow. The beer seems rather light. On top of the beer there is a nice layer of brown foam, which collapses quickly. A nice drape of foam remains. The smell of the beer is nice. It has the mild roasted barley tones typical for a valid porter. The smoke aroma is milder than with the Irish and English porters. I also smell some licorice and syrup. The taste is amazing. It has a lovely roasty touch and a silky touch. It’s a nice mouth sensation. There is a nice bitterness and a lovely malty sweetness. I love this beer.

Barwa ciemno-brunatna, piana bujna, biała. Aromat średnio-intensywny: ciemne pieczyw, palony karmel, cola, syrop cukrowy. W smaku słodkie, mało intensywne jak na portera bałtyckiego: palona kawa zbożowa, karmel, goryczka średnio-niska, alkoholowa.

Karmel, kawa, trochę suszonych owoców i delikatna lukrecja. Niestety dość wodniste, trochę alkoholowe, pustawe. Średnie wysycenie, średnia do niskiej goryczka.

Spory zawód. Po wysokiej ocenie miałem nadzieję na coś naprawdę niezłego. W smaku i aromacie umieściłbym to piwo gdzieś w okolicach lekkiego robust porteru. Jest trochę czekolady, paloności raczej niewiele. Sporo melanoidyn, kakao, chleba. Momentami sprawia wrażenie wręcz koźlaka. Jest ok, miałem nadzieję na coś bardzo porządnego i solidnego.

(Kiev 2016) 500 ml. sampled. This one is currently #2 beer for Ukraine on RB, I remember this one being #1 for a long time for me this just shows the lack of participation of people from certain countries on RB. I blame the fact that all beers have to be entered in the Latin alphabet on RB, lack of a website layout in other languages, there is definitely more interesting beer in Ukraine these days than this, I have stop complaining. Bottled 24.03.2016. Dark brown, little tanned bubbles. Nose is cold herbal iron, low medicine, iron, herbal, vegetable industrial chocolate. Taste is fizzy industrial vegetable industrial chocolate, medicinal, cacao, raw plant, messy, industrial, not too industrial vegetable ect. Lager, fizzy,… Don’t really get the decent score here on RB.

Wysoka, beżowa piana. Ładnie zdobi szkło. Pachnie palonymi słodami, karmelem i niestety żelazem.

Bottle 0.5l from local market in Rachiv. Clear, dark red colored. AROMA- a bit sweet, caramel, roasted malts, dark fruit, prunes, touch of coffee. FLAVOR- lightly sweet and bitter, dry finish, caramel, dark fruit, some coffee tones. Fuller bodied.
Not bad.
