3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin bubbly light tan head. The aroma is malt light caramel and red berry fruit. The flavour is medium to strong bitter, light sweet with a slightly watery strong hop liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nice and drinkable but the liqourice does dominate and that’s not so good.

Cask in the Tilley Shilling, Farnborough. A mahogany coloured ale with a good cream head. Bittersweet flavour with toffee, pear drop and some pine notes on the finish. Quite full flavoured. Drinkable and quite refreshing for a darker ale.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This strong and dark ruby beer is one of Lymestones finest, deservingly winning awards three years in a row! Chocolate and fruit flavours create a mild stout taste with a bitter finish, there is a moderate head with this beer. Unlike some dark beers the malt is not overpowering and compliments the chocolate flavour perfectly. A very refreshing pint and a good session beer, not overpowering like some of the stronger beers.
