COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.
A rich red to black beer carefully crafted from the finest crystal and chocolate malts. Chewy juicy fruit flavours give way to a deep lingering bitterness provided by an abundance of Styrian Goldings, Millenium and Nugget hops.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark brown with a small off white head. Ashy log fire aroma. Sweet, thick leathery taste with dates and prunes, thick, rich... I almost want to say meaty, like a cup of Bovril. Mid bitter finish. Full of character. Almost like a Hopshackle beer.

Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival Day 2, August 2009. Quite dark red colour. Very roasty. Some smoky notes A little caramel but remains quite dry. Made a change from all the golden ales but didn’t really grab my attention. Not bad though.

A Mes rate. Bottle from the Bottle Stop in Bramhall.
Red amber with a very faint oily head. Very pleasant dark fruit and chocolate aroma. The flavour is pretty decent too. Good earthy malt with just a touch of chocolate and a very clean bitter and citric kick. Long mineral notes in the finish. Interesting, very well balanced and pretty decent.
