Cask @ The Commercial Hotel, Accrington. Golden with a small head. Nothing like an IPA, it has a caramel and toffee aroma and taste, with the latter of these being the greater stated. There’s a bitterness but it is very low.

Cask at the Pilgrim - Liverpool. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a creamy white head. The nose has pale malt, light dough, orange and straw. Light sweet flavor with crunchy pale malts, light dry citrus, faint grass and hay. Light bodied with fine carbonation; great condition. Great balance on the finish with juicy citrus, light tropical fruits, mild bitterness of grass and mellow pine, also some further hay. A lovely sessioner.

Cask at The Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a long-lasting frothy white head. The aroma is toffee caramel malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth malt hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Really enjoyed this. A superb ESB that’s called an IPA. Very misleading :-)

Gently fruity hop aroma. Orange, brief head. Lovely full body - sweet bready malts, and loads of fleshy fruit hops. Very full, a little sticky but not sugary. A delicious hoppy bitter.
