Bottle @ home. Aroma is sharp red fruits with alcohol and lemonade. Flavour is weird swampy red fruit with some christmas spices. Bit sharp/spicy.

Bottle @ home. Clear amber pour, solid off-white head. Aroma is almost absent, grainy, ripe fruits, some alcohol and a bit dusty. Flavor is sweet fruity with some cognac and grains. Nice balance and decent body.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown beer with a small, off white head on top. Aroma is malty, light alcoholic and has some ripe fruits in it like plums and has notes of some molasses and caramel. Flavour is really sweet, but evolves into fruity sweet flavours while swallowing. Very interesting. First it’s mostly pure malty and some alcohol, but it soon evolves into rich, fruity flavors, pear, mango and again plums. Ends with a touch of alcohol and vanilla. Wow.. very nice and I did not expect this at all!

Bottle at Cafe De Rat. Pours hazy brown with an off white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, light chocolate, prunes, some licorice, like a mixture of a quad and porter. Flavour is over moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle. Murky dark brown color. Malt and dried plums in the aroma. Malty sweetish alcoholic flavor with dried plums, pear, earthy grassy hops and a hint of anis. Black berries in the finish, Nice one.

Bottle at De Koffer, Nieuwe Blekerstraat, Groningen, 13/01/13. Hazy chestnut. Good, persisting head, with quite fine bubbles. Med-high carb. Quite unusual; like a cross between stout and a quad. Lovely, dark, roast malts, but then quite sweet & fruity belgian yeast flavours. So many Dark beer flavours (other than smoke) all in one beer. A Beautiful dark beer (one of the nicest i’ve had in a while), even if it’s not a traditional quad.

Bottle: Thanks Edwin: Vintage 2012: Pours almost clear amber brown. Medium sized beige light tan vast and slowly disappearing foamy head on top of a deep dark murky brown colored beer with a ruby purple shine. Smell darker fruits like prunes, dried peach and figs, tobacco, liquorice/bay leaf hints, spicy/alcohol, cream, hints of toffee, autumnal herbs, marzepin and barley malts. Taste is (light) spicy with bitters, darker and light creamy fruit notes (raisin, prunes, figs), earth, bay leaf, toasted barley malts, toffee, tobacco, yeast, bread, spicy, nuts, (toasted) herbs and a hint of caramel. Aftertaste is a mix of barley malts, spices, raisin, bitters and bay leaf. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, medium to full body and a creamy texture. Wow, this is a good beer, balanced, very easy drinkable, strong, more deep than any of their other beers and I guess this is a nice beer to cellar for some years. A balanced Quadruppel!

Dark warm brown, small beige head. Not much aroma. Taste is some overripe fruit, a hint of smoke, malt. Not a very distinctive taste. Ok beer, but disappointing for a quadruple.

aroma: beperkt, iets van caramel mout, donker fruit
smaak: caramel, volmoutig, zoet, bittertje, geroosterd mout, donker fruit, kandysuiker, peer
medium tot volle body, minder volmoutig dan de overige maallust bieren.
afdronk: lang licht bitter, pittig en zoet
indruk: smaken zijn nog niet volledig op elkaar afgestemd, bepaalde tonen zijn te overheersend aanwezig naar mijn gevoel. Ze zijn op de goede weg bij Maallust, maar voor mij zijn ze er nog net niet helemaal.
