Een koperkleurig bier van hoge gisting. Licht zoetig, kruidig en vol van smaak. Met een mooie bitter. Het bier is ongefilterd en niet gepasteuriseerd.

Draught @ Bierstraatje Boxtel 2014. Hazy dark orange to red - brownish color, medium to full sized thick, lightly creamy, very well lacing beige head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is malts, wort, sweet, hazelnuts, figs and perhaps lightly caramel and raisins. Taste malts, again lightly that weird touch of hazelnuts, caramel, raisins and figs mixed together, sweet. Not the straightforward Abbey Dubbel and that’s what makes it interesting. Once you’re used to the weird sweetish nutty flavor it’s actually quite nice. Certainly worth a try, as I said at first a bit weird perhaps, but definitely not bad.

Bottled. Colour is close to sewage water, brown and dirty. Loose tan head. Strong phenolic yeastiness, cloves, slightly toasted caramel malts and some herbal hops. A touch of milk chocolate. Flavor is quite light, starts a bit candy sugared and dryish fruity (raisins and dates). Medium body, quite lively carbonation.

Thanks to WillemsUrenkel for that one! Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Dry malty aroma. Starts malty, modest dry, light fruity notes of raisins. Finish still dry, a bit earthy. Okay.

Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sized vanilla creamy head. Cloudy ruby red body. Aromas of malts, caramel, some toast, light chocolate, hay, light wood... Flavours of toast, malts, some chocolate, some caramel, some bitters, hay, light nutty and some light woody tones. Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, malts, nuts and toast. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, good medium bodied and a creamy foamy thick texture.

Bottle from Mitra Tiel. Hazy brown coloured with a beige head. Nose of caramel malts, dark fruits, slightly spicy. Flavour of caramel malts, dried fruits, some spices, some sweetness. Medium carbonation. Finish is slightly sweet.

0,3 l bottle bought at slijterij Benting in Coevorden. And, as I told on other ratings of Maallust, an exemplary label art design with a lot of infos. A darkest nearly unclear amber in the glass, one finger head. Dark wood, dark berriefruits and light alcoholic on the nose. Stars more with coffie and dark chocolate. Sweet bitterness. Light dry palate, herbal sequences. Later more dark fruity. Nice ending of an tasting evening.

Fles bij de brouwerij. Troebel kastanjebruin, crèmekleurige kraag. Bier is erg koud en heeft daardoor geen aroma. Smaak is kruidig, met gebrande mout, weinig suiker. Aardig.

Bottle at home, 300ml, poured into a tulip. ABV 7% Red brown in colour, still slighty transparent when hold against the light, quite clear body, with a tall and thick light beige head. Very good retention after it loses half of its size. Light lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, nuts. Taste is also very nutty, light caramel, hints of dark fruits, I’d like more of that. Some yeast too. Light bitterness on the finish with a touch of alcohol. Medium thin body, a bit high on the carbonation. Overall okay dubbel.

Muddy brown. Beige head. Exciting aroma. Difficult to place aroma, with roasted malt and caramel. Perhaps with green apples and earth. Decent and well-balanced taste, with very good drinkability. Sweet malt in aftertaste.

Bottled from Mitra Bunnik, BB 04 2015, large sample, served in a trappist glass. Slight hazy redbrown color, short forthy light brown head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, some red fruit, raisin, dark bread, toffee. Medium sweet in taste, slight bitterness, mostly in the finish. Not as much yeast character as is usual, but much more caramel and toffee from the malt. Also quite full bodied and not as dry. I expect not a whole lot of sugar and a not very high attenuating yeast strain. A bit on the sweet side, but I like the toffee and dark bread.
