COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Northwestís original, unfiltered and dry hopped amber ale. African Amberís pioneering and innovative style is proof that drink-abilty does not have to be achieved by sacrificing flavor. This beer erupts with a floral, hoppy taste, followed by a well rounded malty middle, finishing with a nicely organic hop flavor. Locally sourced two row grain and a blend of specialty malts give our amber its rich taste. Further complexity is achieved by leaving the beer unfiltered, providing exceptional flavor, as well as giving our amber its unique "cloudy" look. Lastly, we actually place a bag of fresh, locally grown, Yakima valley hops in each keg creating what has become the original, cult classic, northwest amber ale.

Enjoyed many a pint of this one at a number of places in Seattle, and particularly enjoy this one on draught at the African Lounge, which is an outlet for Mac and Jack beers at SETAC. This beer is a fantastic example of amber ale, with lots of great hop aromas, flavor, and bitterness, paired with really great sweet and caramel malt flavor. This beer pour to a hazy, deep amber color, with a creamy white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose is outstanding, with lots of big, fragrant, lemon/grapefruit hop aromas. The palate is firm, with some really good pale, sweet, and caramel malt flavors, paired with a nice fruity back drop of tangy, citrus hop flavor. This beer finishes with more really good sweet and caramel malt up front, then ends with a very pleasing, lemon/grapefruit hop bitterness that lingers. An excellent pint of beer, one that must be tried when ever you visit the Seattle, WA area.

14oz pint glass served at Vonís 1000 Spirits in Seattle. Surprisingly hoppy amber - pretty good.

A subtle floral aroma, with malt and hops. Cloudy dark caramel colour. Mild taste of nuts and malt. With a weak palate of malt.

So far, my favorite beer of all time. Pours cloudy but has a taste that is unique to this Northwest beer.

Mac and Jacks was the first REAL beer I had after growing up on MGD. Though I don't keep growlers of it in my fridge, it's still what I ask for when I'm out.

Draft in Seattle. Old classic, but Iím not really a fan. Big honey brown, very smooth and sweet. No tall dry funk I associate with Amber. Tasty enough

Draught. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a moderate light tan head on it. Nose is quite malt forward with a lot of toastiness off there. Taste is very slightly sweet up front, but with a lot of the toasting coming through, giving it a nice little kick on the back end. One of my favorite ambers.

Pours one finger of head on a hazy copper colored body. The aroma is burnt fruit (apricot, plum and banana). Unique but good. The taste is malty with mild lemon bitter, fruity but not that sweet. The texture is smooth with moderate carbonation. A great beer that remains unique among a growing category.

Iíve had this beer countless times, but not in recent recollection. Turbid oragey amber with a etched surface of light foam. Smells of, well the cleaner of the restaurant here (canít dock íem). Flavor is malty with some hints of oxidation and a good bit of bitterness and some sweet honey in here as well; not a bad flavor. Medium on full bodied here with plenty hi carb (too high) and a wet finish. The aftertaste is a bit sweet and has that slightly milky character. Itís an alright beer. Serving type: on-tap 11-01-2012

Dark amber/copper color, lasting off white head. Very impressive looking brew. First sip is creamy, middle is hoppy and it finishes out with malt and some chocolate. Is missing a little body in the finish.
