COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hints of chocolate and coffee accent this rich and creamy brew. Blackcat’s smooth approachable flavor demonstrates that dark beers can be enjoyed by all. Our traditional Porter features five select specialty malts, English Ale yeast and fresh Northwest hops. Blackcat is clean and crisp, yet complex and flavorful. A superbly balanced beer that is drinkable any time of the year.

Draft at the Taphouse Grill in Bellevue. Dark brown with garnet highlights, tan head that descends to a slightly lacy ring of foam. Medium body and carbonation. The taste was a bit sour, with some coffee, chocolate and nuts. Dry finish.

Draught Served... ON THE ROCKS?? Black, exept reddish where the ice floats; thick brownish head. Despite the ice, very present roasted, dry-kilned malts and grains, even a bit cigarette ash. And even the same in the taste. In fact, it only diminishes the beer, the beers served in most brewpubs in Washington were ice cold too. Cigarette ash, roasted - I get some restsweetness. MF: well,... iceslickness. Is this serious, rating an iced beer? YES, IT IS! If the brewery/distributor/management lets its employees serve it this way, than it deserves no better!

On tap at The Beaver. poured a thick deep brown almost black. An aroma of chocoalte and weak vanilla. The flavors of this porter keep me coming back for more. Very well blended chocolate and toffee, some porters go for aggressive flavors, this one keeps it simple and it really shines through.

On tap at the Africa Lounge in Sea-Tac Airport. Black with tones of brown and ruby, and no head. Roasted malt, coffee and a hint of chocolate in the nose. Watery and weak in body. Flavors are subdued coffee with a touch of chocolate coming through. Served a bit too cold for my taste. I’m wondering if this had an overall effect on the mildness of the aroma and flavor. Wouldn’t mind making another attempt at this one in the near future.

Draft at Sea/Tac. Not as much aroma as I have come to expect from a porter, but the flavor was decent. Some roastiness and a bit of chocolate. Very dusty finish. Decent stuff.

(Draft: Africa Lounge at SeaTac Airport) Having just had their IPA, this porter is actually surprisingly light and mild for the style. Of course, it’s pretty flavorful, it is a porter after all, but I think the IPA is more flavorful. Lightly sweet, fairly roasty and moderately bitter flavor is ho-hum. Aroma is nonexistent when first poured, but not until after I’ve created a lot of head space do I get a vague roastiness. Really lacking in aromatics. Body is a bit lighter than I’d like in a porter, and the palate is dry and very carbonated. Dark brown in color. Light tan head is small on the pour and fades quickly to a small rim. No lace. Hmm, nothing special here. Doesn’t grab me in the least.

I had this on tap at the airport in seattle and was disappointed from such a great looking and smelling beer. It was a little thin and not as dark as I had hoped. A decent porter

Growler: (had 1 day after bottling) Dark brown, ruby highlights, small fizzy beige head, spotty lacing.   Very roasty aroma, slight coffee.   Smooth roasted malt (nearing burnt actually) on the tongue.   Subtle hints of chocolate.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, albeit it seems a tad light.   Very clean finish.   Hops begin to appear as it warms up a bit.   Lingering coffee and burnt malts well after the finish.   A somewhat light, but very sessionable Porter.   Thanks to Hoppedhead for the sample!

No head. Dark brown with lots of ruby highlights. Decent roasted aroma. Soft easy drinking porter.

deep mahogany color when held to light, nice head dissapates quickly, aroma of roasty chocolate and coffee, complex malty flavor with coffee and chocolate tones, well balnced hops a great NW porter
