Well alongside Goldstar is Israel’s other macro-beer Maccabee, which is a better than average pale lager apparently made with all-malt. On draft, this beer is very smooth, crisp, and light-bodied, but the taste likewise is rather light to the point of being almost bland. Same for aroma. In short, a fresh but indistinct light pale lager, but at least avoids any adjunct or industrial off-flavors. OK if you’re looking for something quaffable and refreshing in the hot midday sun, but if you’re looking for more substance and flavor, go with Goldstar.

33cl bottle that a friend brought from tel-aviv. Color is clear gold. Head is thin. Body is highly carbonated. Aroma is corn and hemp. True story.

UPDATED: APR 19, 2014 Pours a clear golden color and a small white head that settles rather quickly. Gentle hoppy aroma is complemented by some malty smell as well. The taste is much more malty that is the case with other regular lagers, but it is by no means too sweet. The finish is more on the sweet side than bitter, but nice. Drinkable and enjoyable.

Small white head. Clear pale yellow body. Light papery caramel aroma. Dryish herbal papery taste with grassy notes. Light body. Mild mouthfeel. Dryish grassy herbal aftertaste with papery notes. Flat and boring with way too much paper. (0.33l bottle at Crazy Café, Budapest.)

On draught at Wineberg Wine Bar Tel Aviv. Pours a dark hole color with a slight head and constant bubbles. No aroma, little flavor mouth feel from CO2. Light body. Disappointing.

0,33 l bottle. Pale golden, very small head. Starts smooth malty, watery, light sweetness. Corn? Can´t read the label. Little bit hay. Hop? Thin lager, no highlights.

Maybe one of the worst ever shared with McTapps. Starting and ending with some rice aroma and loads of...water. Bit sweetish, light and tasteless. Could be a good one when it 35 degrees and you need a nice beer between two World Cup games. Otherwise....forget it.
