[On tour with svoger, svogergylp and adenila.] Bought in Berlin. Another country-ticker-beer #94 from hell. True international pilsnerstyle and nothing to come for. Notes of metal, caramel and old straw.

Sampled from a 33cl bottle purchased in Golders Green. Pours a clear golden colour with a white head. The taste is sweet and malty with little hop bitterness. Hints of honey. This beer would be refreshing when served cold in a hot climate.

330ml bottle (Wines of Gallillee) shared by Marduk - thanks!
Really stinky aroma, pungent rotting vegetable matter. gold, brief head settles to a patchy scum. fairly unpleasant in the mouth, some strange unidentifiable chemicals. watery palate, crisp carbonation. Light malts behing the chemicals too, less horrible in the finish. Some metallic hops can be felt on the teeth. poor lager, not so nice to drink. Improves after the aroma.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours clear golden with a white head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma and flavour are grains and malt - with a slightly dry finish.

330ml bottle. Pale yellow color. Small size, white head, stays. Malty, strong hop extract pops out as soon as cap is removed, papery and morning cereals in aroma. Sweet, malty, slightly papery in taste. Bits of sugar in aftertaste. Surprisingly clean palate. Soft carbonation.

Had this when I went to Israel in Haifa. orange color with a light collapsing head. I don’t remember much outside of the level of sweetness and no bittenress.

Probably the best known Israelian beer, a standard pale lager from a green bottle, which in the case of my sample bears labels with all the content in both english and hebrew. Stable and lacing, snow white head over a yellow golden coloured beer with quiet sparkles. Strong skunky lightstruck smell upon opening, this clearly has been exposed to light too much, ammonia-like and very off-putting, but as usual it kind of vaporises after a while, making room for a soft, almost white bread dough-like, generic and simple pale malt sweetness; I also get a wet cardboard aroma as well as something very weakly grassy, which could represent hops. Neutral onset as expected, watery and minerally, gaining a bit of flavour in the middle with that soft doughy malt sweetishness from the aroma, feeling a little bit oily to the mouth cavity; carbonation is soft, in fact perhaps a bit undercarbonated for this style, because apart from the light oily feel, this beer feels very watery. This is also due to the lack of hops in the finish: at least a tad of hop bitterness could have made the ending a bit more interesting, but I get practically no sign of hops, apart from perhaps a very faint grassy flavour all the way at the back, but providing no bitterness at all, so that only a very weak, ’floury’ maltose flavour remains. Once the skunkiness faded out, this was not even the worst pale lager I had, there is a certain ’pure’ malt sweetness to it, but this certainly not made with ’all malts’ (I assume they consider malt extracts to fall into that category as well) and seriously underhopped much the same as a ’light’ ager, with a very thin, watery, neutral pale lager as a result.

In Paris. Pale, clear, plain yellow gold. Sweet, quite malty. A little syrup, very extracty. meh.
