COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mack 1877 er brygget på den orginale tjekkiske måten, med en mer fremtredende humlearoma enn skandinavisk pilsnerøl. Mack 1877 er produsert med ren pilsnermalt og klassisk, tjekkisk Saazer humle.

This 0,5L can was my rating no. 77 - in honour of my hometown Tromsø, the origin city for Mack Brewery founded 18’77. Floral hoppy scents with some citrus and pale malts. Pours an average normal semi-dense white head on top of the straw coloured body. Nice "svetly lezak" taste, with pale malts, hops, hints of lemon. Mouthfeel good. Aftertaste very normal, and overall absolutely not watery. It is possible that the hops ("Saaz"?) are of the finest quality that gives this beer a czech pilsner style and quality. I have only seen it canned. The moderate 4,7 abv makes it available in all supermarkets in Norway, and hopefully the brewery will conserve this recipe for many years ahead and spread it to other countries. This is one of the best bright beers of Norway.

On tap in Olhallen, Tromso. Clear deep amber beer, tidy off white head. Light palate, a little crisp. Minerals. A little darker malt going on here, a bare whisper of smoke and molasses. Nice fruits - a semi tart raspberry led berry fruit thing on the back end. Not bad at all.

Can, thanks Rune! Very pale gold. For a Norwegian industrial lager, this has a pleasant hop aroma and a nice floral character. Not half bad.

Endelig en norsk pils som ikke er i den tradisjonelle carlsbergstilen. Virkelig en nytelse.

Small white head. Hazy opaque yellow body. Fruity mealy toffee aroma. Dry-sweet fruity papery mealy taste with toffee notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dry fruity floral spicy aftertaste with resiny notes. Nice, and highly drinkable. (0.5l draft at Blå Rock, Tromsø.)

Medium white head. Clear yellow body with light carbonation. Vaguely fruity dusty strawy aroma with earthy notes. Dry-sweet dusty fruity strawy taste with earthy papery notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish fruity papery aftertaste with dusty strawy notes. Nice. Certainly decent quality, if not very exciting. (0.5l can at Vertshuset Skarven, Tromsø.)

Can from Vaaland, Bryne. Pours clear pale golden with a small creamy white head. Aroma of grassy hops, moderate sweet grainy malts. Taste is more shy than suggested by the aroma, but fairly dry all the way, high carbonated, some light sourish malts right at the final. Not all bad.

Boks 0,5l fra dagligvarehandel i Tromsø. Gyldenbrun. KI=7
