Mack’s Arctic Beer is the first beer to reach the North Pole on a surface expedition. Pure malt beer brewed and canned in Arctic Norway.

0.33l can. Pours a clear light unfiltered pale golden body with a small white head. Aroma is light malty with hints of lemony-hops, something floral and biscuits - or perhaps it’s just some butter. Lively carbonation level, oily texture and medium to light bodied. Flavors are also light malty with notes of lemon, flower-water and hops. Not that bad for a pale lager. Can’t find a single bad flavor, but it’s definitely not to exciting either. Drinkable lager.

Clear yellow body with a white foam. Some grass and hops, but strikes me as dull. Very similar to the original Mack Pilsner. Looks refreshing though, at least in the beginning, well...until the foam totally collapses, which went relativelty fast.

Several tins, bottles and draft samples too. Pretty flimsy - not sure why I bothered really.

Bottle 0.33L. Pale yellow body, with a small white head, fully diminishing with virtually no lacing. Light hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavour with some faint malty notes: somehow a watery flavour. Very light body with a watery texture; medium carbonation.

12.03.2004. 0,5l Can. Godt øl med litt av alt. Ølet er friskt og har en lett og god smak.

On tap at Bryggerikaia in Bodo. Clear golden with a small white head. A typical boring industrial lager. Shame I’d rather not ordered water.

On tap @ Cacti Art Cafe, Bergen. It’s so cold from the tap that it’s hard to distinguish too much taste. Maybe just as good; this does not taste even remotely like anything but a bland, boring pale lager. Looks like one, smells like one and tastes like one. Perhaps some notes of cardboard or cooked veggies would’ve surfaced eventually, but I think I can rate this as "boring macrobrew" right of the bat. Very drinkable, though, and without any aftertaste whatsoever. Perhaps meant as a beer for people who don’t like beers. Or teenagers. Or something. Try again Mack, this time without leaning on marketing gimmicks like "first beer to the North Pole". Jeez.
