COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available filtered and pasteurised in cans. Previously 3.0%.
Originally brewed by Mackeson of Hythe in Kent in 1910. This was the first beer to use milk sugar to produce a Milk Stout. The Mackeson brewery was eventually acquired by Whitbread, which in turn was taken over by Interbrew (now AB InBev) who initially produced the beer at their Magor brewery in Wales. Subsequently has been contract brewed by Youngs and latterly by Hydes.

330ml can. Pours clear, very dark brown. Latte-colored head. Lots of sweet malt aroma. Surprisingly much body. Surprisingly short finish. Medium sweet. Not outstanding, but inoffensive and could be a lot worse at this price point.

330ml can from Beers of Europe - Always been intrigued by Mackeson, always came across as an old woman’s drink, so in the interest of science... Thin black with a brown head. Smell is yeasty, taste is quite light and chocolatey. It’s nice enough. Very drinkable. Bit watery mind you...

Can - very dark red with a sizeable foamy brown head. Aroma of cream, a little brown sugar, hints of cocoa and porridge. Taste of gentle roasted malts, cocoa, cream and light bitterness in the finish. Dry, medium body, creamy mouthfeel and light carbonation.

Plechovka. Čierna farba, hnedá pena, hneď spadla. Vôňa sladká, kakaová. V chuti prázdne telo, chuť teplého kakaa, sladkosť. Dochuť ... skoro žiadna.

Can from Seoul Plaza. Very dark colour, beige head. Dry roasty simple stout, similar to continental draught Guinness. Actually quite palatable, easy drinking.
