3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
When I first met my wife, back in the 70’s, she was a nurse at a RAF Hospital in Germany. Cans of this beer were kept in a fridge for pregnant ladies and mothers of new born babies, to help them produce milk and keep their iron intake up.
She used to sneak some out for me sometimes.
This can is newer though and Whitbread have sold their sole to Inbev, having killed a few breweriers off themselves.
330ml can, best before March 2007, drank on 1st April 2007, so it is out of date.
Poured into a Gordon thistle glass it looks fantastic, a very dark body with a huge foaming fawn head.
The aroma is malt and more malts, burnt sugar and biscuits.
Sweet and burnt toffee flavours mix with the malt taste, well it is a sweet stout, what was I expecting?
Tastes linger, you would never guess this is only 3.0% in acoholic volume, not watery at all.
A trip down memory lane for me, a pleasant one at that, I’ll have another in 30 years time.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Brown body with ugly, flimsy tan head. Coffee, vegetables, rubber and sweetened rye bread. Reasibly full taste for the abv, but not necessarily a nice one. Especially the aspartame aftertaste. Ugh. Nasty stuff. (33cl can)

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thick, dark colour with a decent brown head. Aromas are predominantly sweet, and malty, slightly nutty and just a little bit smokey - very little alcohol presence. Taste is sweet, sweet, sweet, very little bitterness. Certainly a classic, though I prefer something a little punchier.

Ser fin ut. Mörk med beige skum. Doftar chokladmjölk. Sen är smaken så jäkla söt av mjölksockret. Tunn kropp. De rostade tonerna förmår inte att höja betyget speciellt mycket.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can from Sainsbury’s. Pours a dark brown colour with a thin tan head that dies away. Aroma is a little sweet with caramel, roasty malt and oatmeal. Similar flavours with caramel and Weetabix flavours. Not too bad and, although sweet, it doesn’t spoil this beer for me.

2.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Always had a soft spot for this. Light in alcohol, but the beige head and creamy feel underpin a great old milk stout. Unusually sweet in an era of stouts and porters with high IBUs. This has an old fashioned feel, and was reputed to be offered to my mom when she was in hospital having given birth to me. A guilty pleasure, but I like it!

Can 0,33ltr: Opaque black with an pretty sweet taste but just not annoying, and some milky feel way in the back. I like this low-alcohol Stout.

I have a sweet tooth so I may be biased but this is lovely stuff. Metallic nose. No head. Slightly bitter taste with a very sweet chocolate and extremely mild coffee noted aftertaste. Yum yum.
