1.4 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 JohnRMurdoch (2247) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - JUL 15, 2010
275ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Creamy sweaty sock aroma. Brown, almost black colour with no head. Tastes better than it smells - sweet liquorice & malt flavour but still not great. An old man’s drink.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Palme (2234) - Bergen, NORWAY - AUG 27, 2012
0.33l can. This one pours a deep brown - near black actually, body under a big and almost creamy chocolate-head. On the nose I get tones of sweet chocolate and thin roasted malts. A hint of something burned as well, but is’s all in all not a massive aroma bomb this. It’s quite sweet and watery in flavor, thin roastiness with a really present burned and almost ashy finish and aftertaste. A bit minerally and dry as well in the finish. Easy drinking, but not to impressive really. 02.08.2012
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - JAN 20, 2005
Almost 100 years since it’s conception, this one didn’t age well. Tasted from the squat can, it poured a deep dark reddish brown, with a thin dense tan head. Aroma (if any?) of ovaltine, dank liquor and copper pipes. In the mouth it was smoothed out with a cloying maltiness. It reminded me of a cold mocha-latte, with a shot of whisky in it. Low carbonation, no roasted or lactose highlights, and a short, mildly sweet swallow. I think this one is best suited to the history books, rather than the pint glass.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Joeh (2038) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - SEP 19, 2002
Bottled. Black, light brown head. Slight coffee aroma. Light coffee and chocolate flavours - rather bland however. For 3.0% a good stout.

330ml can. Pours jet black with a medium tight head. Aroma is roasted malt and sugars. Taste is very sweet, roasted malt. Quite full for the 3%. Reminds me of a Brewdog Paradox.

STILL SOME AROUND. I LIKE COFFEE SO I LIKE THIS BEER. EASY TO DRINK AND CREAMY. IT IS COMPLEX BUT THAT COMPLEXITY REMINDS ME OF SUB PRIME COLUMBIAN COFFEE. OR A FRENCH ROAST. I ALWAYS DRINK COFEE WITH EVAPORATED MILK SO THATS KINDA WHAT YOU HAVE HERE. OH WELL EEEHHH!

Low alcohol stout with a nice roasted malt aroma, but not carried through too well into the taste, but it does maintain a decent texture.
