In some ways the best stout of any kind Iíve tried, low alcohol or not. The color is like coffee, as the description states, and is almost opaque. The head is creamy and lingering. The aroma is sweet, somewhat like caramel and bittersweet chocolate. The taste is even better---sweet and also chocolatey, and has a few slightly hidden strong coffee notes as well. There isnít anything I would change about this one. Yes, itís somewhat syrupy but it works here. As someone said earlier it reminds me of Youngís Double Chocolate, and that for me is a GOOD thing!

Creamy, chocolate aromas and flavors with oxidized coffee, tannic finish, slightly acidic. This is delicious.

Outstanding stout, sweeter than Guiness and somehow more satisfying. Slight coffee flavor as well. As an added bonus, it makes you shit black.

Sweet and chocolatey taste with a jet black appearance. Wonderful tasting stout alothough maybe just a wee bit too much carbonation. A winner.

Now THATíS what Iím talkiní about! A nice gutsy, sweet, and thoroughly balanced stout with hints of coffee and chocolate. A little syrupy in the finish, and not the LEAST bit refreshing as far as they go, but a darn good beer anyway.

UPDATED: OCT 10, 2009 5+ for appearance... maybe the best looking brew ever. Tasted a whole lot like Youngís Double Chocolate Stout. Good stuff.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2003 Nice sweet, mild roasted aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee. Pours jet black with a medium thickness. Light brown head. Creamy, sweet and very tasty with coffee, oatmeal and chocolate flavors. If I was blindfolded I would swear this was an Oatmeal Stout with lactose sugar added. Medium body and nice feel to the palate. Could use a bit more of alcohol to even out.

thick, creamy and sweet. Yes, lactose sugar added. and yes, it adds to the taste. havenít had any other ímilkí stouts to compare this to, but it was great. Oh, and p.s. who cares about the alc.%. Stout is not necessarily a high alc% beer. this one just tastes good.
