Editor’s Note: This is a higher alcohol version of the British Mackeson Stout. Formerly brewed in the United States by Boston Beer Co. at their Cincinnati location (the old Hudepohl brewery). Presently brewed at the Carib Brewery in Trinidad (and St. Kitts).
This is the version that is commonly exported to South East Asia

I like it. Strong smell of something fruity(?) in the aroma. Pours dark brown/black with brown head that recedes quickly. The taste is mild and pleasing with predominant chocolate presence. Soft on the palate, though I do prefer more crispness. I could definitely come back to it.

Nice black coffee color, lactose added, two sweet and milky for me. Taste like chocolate milk.

dark as the la brea tar pits, mammoths are advised to avoid open pools of mackeson. actually it does have a warm brown glow that emmanates from deeply within, like a vulcan mine smoldering deep under a mountain. a remarkable froth of almost reddish umber espresso creama on top. a nose as big as a toucan’s and just as colorful: you’ve got your french roast and figs, maple and dark chocolate. the flavor delivers the same--it only remains for me to adjudicate a verdict on the added sugar. like sweetner in an espresso, it probably aids drinkability-- or renders it portlike and functional as a desert. but...but...it’s really too sweet for me, alas.

’Indra’ hit it on the head. Top notch Stout. Bought the 6 pack and still 2 left. Best when nearly room temp and after a bite of good chocolate--Crazy but true.
