The only other sweet stout Iíve had is Sam Smithís Oatmeal. I definitely prefer this one, although the SS brew is more complex. This one didnít have the sweetness that I had a difficulty getting over. More of a relaxed coffee with hints of chocolate.

Pours black but not as opaque or as dark as some. Surprisingly dark tan head. Smell is chocolate milk and burnt toast. Flavor is more chocolate, apple peel with a burnt bitter finish. Maybe a bit of smoke. Reminds me of a weak imperial stout. Mouthfeel is a bit grainy.

I realy enjoyed this beer. Deliciously chocolaty and sweet, great creamy feel. The rather weak aroma was the only downside of this very good stout. re-rate: had to drop it a couple tenths of a point, the coffee is a bit too pronounced.

Pretty strong stout. Different than Mr. G, but thatís not a bad thing. Nice and sweet. Very coffee. Takes me for a ride.

My favorite stout. Love the color, aroma, taste. Smooth with a heavy chocolate, light creamed coffee flavor. Now I have to duplicate it for homebrewing!

This ones a keeper.Pours black as night with a dark brown head that stays there. Aroma of burnt coffee and chocolate. Taste is smooth and strong of chocolate, thck and maybe a bit creamy followed by the coffee taste that stays with you. A little sweet to qualf but a good breakfast beer or cold evening sipper.

This beer has a permanent place in my all time favorite, top five list. Mackesonís is without a doubt, the darkest, murkiest, inky black beer Iíve ever seen. The aroma isnít anything to write home about (probably masked by the lactose thatís added), but this belies itís wonderfully rich flavor. Mackesonís is probably the most complex $6 a pack beer one can lay hands on. Has a great coffee/chocolate/creamy flavor, though sometimes the sweetness is a bit much for me. Itís definately a íonce in a whileí beer; who could chug this stuff without going into hyperglycemic shock? All in all, a fine beer that will take your taste buds to school. Just donít EVER try to follow another beer with it.

Eating licorice in an earth-soaked jumper…A glass of chocolate milk before bedtime…I feel like a little kid…

Okay, this beer poured out a lovely dark color. A very dark beer. It formed a nice dark head. The aroma was hard to pick up, maybe malt. The body seamed a little lighter than other stouts I have had, but it still seamed creamy. The flavor of it is sweet, but not overpowering like I found the Youngís to be.
