Starts of good...chocolate malt, coffee, some bitterness, and a nice roasty character. Too sweet for me, though. The finish is bizarre and rather disappointing. All the flavor falls off and I’m left with something that resembles heavily sweetened soy milk. Swallow it quickly.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2007 Pours a dark brown with tan head. Sweet milk chocolate, coffee, toasted malt, and more sweetness. Lots of chocolate and coffee with a bit of fruit. Pretty damn sweet with a nice creamy mouthfeel. I enjoyed it.

THOUGHTS: Body is a little thin, but goes down extremely smooth. Very easy to drink. Very flavorful, but goes down easy. Almost like a foreign stout it’s so seet and flavorful. A great beer.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured an opaque, extremely dark brown that look black in the glass witha small to average, light brown head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was of moderate toasted, nighty and moderate milk chocolate malt with just a little dark fruit. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, while the finish was heavily sweet and lightly bitter with an average duration. It was packed with flavors of chocolate syrup and some nuttiness. The medium to full body was creamy with soft carbonation and a lightly astringent, but smooth finish.

Bottle 12 oz. Poured black with a thin tan head which left medium lacing on the glass. Aroma was sweet with notes of vanilla and some fruit (banana???). This was very surprising. The sweetness was overpowering. Almost cloying with more of the fruit (again a buttery banana), with coffee, chocolate, molasses, and others. Sweetness gives way to a slightly bitter finish. Thinner than I expected. Although the start was interesting and perhaps promising, the finish was banal and ordinary. An average sweet stout.

Bottled
Opaque black, good expresso head. Roasted malty, sweetish nose (milk chocolate). Quite sweet: sugary with cold coffee flavor. Some cold coffee also in the flavor. I am not a big fan of sweet stouts.

Dark and opaque pour with a persistent tan head that laces well. Aroma of chocolate milk and burnt coffee. Medium body is thinner than expected. Taste is chocolate milk, cola, and a hint of coffee. Has a bold lactic note and no bitterness. A little too sweet.
