COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s Note: This is a higher alcohol version of the British Mackeson Stout. Brewed chiefly in the United States by Boston Beer Co. at their Cincinnati location (the old Hudepohl brewery). Also brewed at the Carib Brewery in St. Kitts for the eastern Caribbean market.

An almost black pour with tan head and lacing that does what lacing does. An aroma of sweet chocolate and coffee. A flavor with a really nice sweetness of mostly chocolate. With a bit more alcohol this could really be an excellent beer. As it is it has a clean flavor and aroma. The bitter is just a little weak but present. The palate is just a tad thin and fizzy but not off by much. I like this beer quite a bit.

Pours dark, head does not last very long. Aroma is mix of coffee and chocolate. Sweet taste slight tickle, thin/oily.

Pours great with color so dark it resembles a black hole. Dark tan head needs some coaxing to stay around but man, what a 1st taste. Tastes sweet for a stout, almost brown sugarish mixed with chocolate. Very smooth with almost no aftertaste. Highly drinkable and well worth the money. Would love to try this on tap!

this is very nice sweet stout. The finish is almost like eating a caramello bar. I enjoyed it very much!

Smells like a sweet vanilla cigar. YEAH! I’m always confused rating appearance of a dark beer; reddish tint: nice. Not the best beer I’ve ever had, but pretty close :-) Very smooth for a dark beer, perfect pour nice head.

Sweet candy smell from a black body. Medium palate. Some chocolate and some sweet malt flavors make up the flavor mostly. Not bad, but fairly one dimensional.

I think I got an old bottle. Can’t read the numbers on the bottle. Poured with just the slightest chocolate cherry ring, nearly impenetrable coffee color. Barely any aroma. Taste is pretty sweet, but a hint skunky.I’m missing a lot. Quite a shame that the shop actually sold this to me. I’ll look out for a fresher bottle.
