Bottle Black pour with decent carbonation and quick dying dirty brown head. Sweet aroma with some roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet chocolate, caramel, and coffee flavor. Light watery palate, thin body. Good brew, but too thing.

Well, I am truly an idiot. I picked this beer up in a mixed six pack and thought "whoa XXX stout, this must be some strong stuff". Little did I know this was the Vin Deisel of XXX beers...lame and weak. The beer actually smells very good and has a nice aroma. The body is dark, but the palate is somewhat watery. The taste was a little different than other stouts I’ve had as it had the chocolate, roast, malt, coffee (and they all mixed well), but carmel flavors really stood out to me in this beer. This beer actually isn’t that bad...Damn you Vin Deisel!

Pours black with a thick, dirty, tan head. Mild aroma, a little chocolate and alcohol. Taste is sweet with low carbonation, a little like flat cola. No aftertaste, no bitterness. Overall, not bad, just a little bland.

bottle. dark pour with tn head. nice aroma vanilla, choco, mollasses. very sweet mouth. mollasses strong. chocolate and sugar. bitter finish.

Sampled on 11/29/2006 at the November meeting of the Junedale Beer Klub. Brought by Phro... Tasting notes: Reddish black color with a brown head. Some butterscotch in the aroma and flavor. Short finish. Silky on the palate. I have had this beer in the past and remember it being much more roasty and robust with a hint of smoke in the finish. I need to pick up another bottle of this and try it again. This used to be one of my favorite mainstream stouts, but I was really disappointed with it based on this tasting... Rating: 6/4/6/4/13=3.3

1/30/2008: Mackeson XXX Stout is near black in color with a brown head. It has a medium-full body and is quite smooth. This beer is thick and loaded with great aromatic and flavor characteristics, including semi-sweet choclate, caramelized dark fruit, sweet milk chocolate, meaty smoke, char, and a tinge of alcohol. This bottle was great and more like the way I remember it from years ago... 12 fl. oz. bottle. Rating: 7/4/8/3/15=3.7

12 oz. bottle- color dark black – sharp quickly dissipating coffee color head - nose of milk chocolate , vanilla , coffee , and mint – taste of milk chocolate , roasted , and dark berries - body medium , and slightly watery , little carbonation– aftertaste of chocolate , and sour

Bottle from Beer_Hawk; Nose of cream and chocolate; opaque black with a medium, glass-lacing, rusty-tan head; flavor is sucrose and chocolate, with a creamy body and flavor. Definately a "sweet" stout!

Bottle. Pours black with nice tan head. Aroma of sweet mocha. Taste is roasted malts and sweet chocolate. Finish is sweet cream with no bitterness. An excellent stout!
