Excellent beer! Where can it be purchased now that my local supplier does not stock it anymore? I simply hate the weak or scented besers that seem to stock the shelves of US outlets for beer these days.

Bottle. Mildly roasty, very sweet. Smooth body, palate is nice, but not overly thick. Good sized head. As a milky taste.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a persistant creamy tan head. Smells of chocolate, toffee, molasses. Tastes of roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, some raisin, and toffee. Some nuttiness in the finsh, but sweet all the way.

Black with a tan large crown that is quickly overthrown and out of business. Aroma of dark and roasted malts, chocolate and mild coffee. Taste of milk sugar, roasted malt and chocolate. Palate is a touch light and some cola like qualities sneak into this one. Sweet finish mixed with some roasted malt.

Bottle. Pours a darker black color. Head is two finger that does leave a fair amount of lacing on the glass. Very rich beer. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Taste is coffee and caramel. Very smooth and good beer

12 oz bottle - poured into a proper pint glass. This stout pours black with a nice 2 finger head. The head is frothy, not foamy. Very nice. The Aroma is of roasted chocolate, but with smokey overtones. Flavor is bold smokey malts. Palate has a silky smooth mouth feel, with very little carbonation. This is an exquisitely crafter stout, and is suitable as a quaff with a steak dinner, or as a dessert beer after a nice meal. Well done by the boys in Boston.

12 oz bottle purchased from Frugal MacDoogal’s in Nashville. Poured an opaque black color with a one finger brown head. The aroma was roasted malt, bitter chocolate and cream. The flavor was roasted malt with chocolate and a slightly bitter finish. I was really impressed with this one.

Pours completely black with a little lacing on top. Aroma is blandly of tar and leather, stone. Flavor is also very leathery and soily. Tastes like it has a much higher alcohol than the purported 4.9%. I don’t think that I’ll be having this again as it doesn’t really appeal to me. I mean, if I’m going to go big, I’m going to go imperial stout. Why wouldn’t I? Overall, fair to good.

Bottle thanks to mcox90. Pours a completely dark color, no light shows through at all. A thick light brown head, full and fluffy. The aroma is great; sweet roasted malts, burnt chocolates, milky notes, some cocoa also. The flavor is also great; initially huge roasted malts akin to Guinness, a big chocolate full flavors envelopes your palate in the middle which then leads to a huge earthy finish. The full earthy flavor is milky and mineral-filled. Excellent. A perfect sweet stout. Leaves a sweet flavor on your lips. The only lackluster quality is the medium to low mouthfeel .

Very good; almost a sweet beer. Pours very black and mouthfeel coats the tongue.
