Aroma of dark, but smooth malts, chocolate, rye and slightly roasted. Black coloured with a brown, medium, lasting head. Taste is sweet, malty. Bread with butter and chocolate and some coffee. Bit sticky. Decent stout.

Black coloured brew. Aroma is chocolate, very chocolate. Nice aroma. Smooth taste, dark, burned chocolate malts. It’s not a bad brew. Nice one.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2005 Bottle (12oz). Pours like motor oil, a touch red but mostly black, black, black. A skim of mocha head which laced some, but who cares - it smells divine. Heavy chocolate, dark roasted, almost burnt malts, blackstrap molasses, a touch of sourness (but appropriate) - hints of peat bogs and midnight, eldritch and ancient echoes from the sceptered isle. Maybe some coffee in there. Taste - surprisingly sweet - mocha toffee and rich milk chocolate flavour, just a hint of bitterness, some vanilla and maybe even cassis - rich, but not as thick a mouthfeel as I was expecting. Not a disappointment exactly, but was expecting to almost chew it based on the pour and aroma. The finish is more reflective, darker, not as sweet - the tinge of sourness and bitterness comes through at the end. As it warms in the goblet, it gets sweeter, more mellow and creamy. Very nice - I’ll pick up more next time in Buffalo.

Opaque. The nose is subtle chocolate/roastiness with a predominant lactose, dairy aroma on the top. There is a good, mellow, roasty flavor that lingers nicely. My nose is a little stuffed up but this is drinkable. A little thin on the palate for the style. Pretty good.

Pours midnight black with a foamy, chocolate milk colored head about an index finger thick. The head doesn’t last long & settles quickly into a sticky lacing. The aroma reminds me of Nestles Quik chocolate syrup more than anything else. Taste is unexpectedly light for a stout, and again dominated by choclate. Sweet tasting, the sweetness almost completely obscures any stout-like bitterness. Nice mouthfeel, a bit of creaminess. I can only liken this to drinking choclate milk with a head on it. Not bad at all, just not what I was expecting. It’s almost dessert-like. I’d have it again, but more as an after dinner sipper than an after work drink.

A dark rich stout that is full of flavo. This is a very easy drinking stout, smooth to the last drop. Sweet with chocolate and coffee hint. This one I will drink again.

Nice dark color but not much of a head. Sweet and smoky stout flavor. Very rich mouthfeel but a weak, thin finish due to the high lactose level. Okay for its style.

Just had a taste of this one. Great depth, flavour, loads of roasty malt flavours but so much more depth there. A nice sweetness to go along with it. Huge tan head which seemed to last and last.
