3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Angeloregon (2054) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 24, 2008
Bottle from Woodstock Wine and Deli in Portland, OR--Poured a thick dark, molasses body. No head. Pure engine oil and molasses. Sticky toffee, robust. Almost undoable. Eh. Boston Beer Company isn’t the brewer of the Mackeson XXX I had. It was brewed in London, England.

Bottle. Poured an opaque dark brown with a big chocolatey head that increases as air bubbles through the beer and settles atop the beer. Leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is coffee and malts with a biting alcohol note at first that settles down. Flavor is coffee, hints of chocolate with a roast after taste. A touch creamy in the mouth.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 StFun (565) - Indiana, USA - SEP 13, 2008
Fairly unimpressive. Chocolate, roasted barley, dark fruits, and hints of coffee, lots and lots of water. Thin on the palate. Not terrible, just...bland. Maybe a good session stout, if there is a thing. I’d have this one again, but it’s not anything great.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 johnnyoski (287) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - SEP 12, 2008
12oz botle: Pours dark black with a dark brown foamy head. Aroma consists of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and raisin. Sweet initial taste of dark chocolate and roasted malt. Some coffee notes creep in to give dull the sweetness. Not something I could drink all night, but great as an after dinner dessert.

Dark black pour with a tan bubbly head. Aroma is weak, with hints of cream, malt, and cocoa. Tastes of smokey roasted malt and mild coffee with a milky chocolate finish. Dessert and coffee all rolled up into one!

Form a 12 oz bottle from a World Beers box, this poured dark and black with moderate tan head and good lacing. Noe of coffee and chocolate. Rich and cream mouthfeel. Flavor of roasted malts with chocolate. Slightly bitter finish. Very good.

Black pour, small cream colored head. Very malty, creamy, sweet. I don’t get as much chocolate as others here however. Nothing to balance this out. Full bodied. Definetely a sweet stout. Take it or leave it.

Bottle. Rich black color with a strong, tan head. Muted nose of coffee and cocoa powder. Smoky, roasty flavors with a thick, but not too thick mouthfeel. Not a terribly memorable stout and could use more bitterness to even out the roasted flavors. Quite drinkable and solid.
