3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 GranvilleTim (1014) - Granville, USA - JUN 21, 2009
Black pour with brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate, sweet aroma. You get the sweetness and roasted malt at the same time during the first sip. The roasted malt flavor lingers on afterward. It almost has a smoked flavor to it. Very nice. It laces the glass nicely.

330 ml bottle, label says best before December 2012. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s the addition of some lactose. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s smooth and slick with a good amount of carbonation. I think it’s a good overall brew. Picked up a single at Liquor Barn.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2012
I was very surprised to find this in Tobago (June 2008).
The label said ’THE ORIGINAL AND GENUINE IMPORTED EST 1742’ but in small print it claimed it was brewed and bottled at Carib etc, etc (for Interbrew UK Ltd).
275ml Brown bottle poured into a half-pint tumbler on the hotel balcony.
Really dark, jet black in fact, with a good deep tan head.
Chocolate aroma, sweet dark caramel, malty too.
Rich, thick and creamy in the mouthfeel, treacle flavours came through as well.
A lovely drink, just as good as the real Mackeson that I remember from my youth.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 larsga (4684) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 23, 2012
Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Sugary metallic caramel pudding aroma with chocolate notes. Sweet-dryish milky chocolatey taste with earthy notes. Mid-bodied. Very mild and smooth mouthfeel. Dryish roasty chocolatey aftertaste with coffee and caramel notes. Some funky character to it, too. Nice and drinkable, and very smooth. Interesting. (0.275l bottle, Wellcome, Lohas Park, Hong Kong.)

A nice stout. After it sat in the fridge for about a week the flavor was greatly improved
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Chudwick (565) - Taylor Mill (KY), FRANCE - APR 6, 2012
11.16oz bottle - pours so much foam that I’m typing this with a bunch of beige foam in my mouth. Black in color with nice lacing already. Flavor is chocolate, caramel, roasted malts and metal. Clearly sweet, especially to the lips. Toffee aftertaste. Really nice and smooth.

Bottle at home in Barbados. Pours to form a nice looking drink, yellow tan head. Good smokey aroma. Nice balance of sweet and bitter, some coffee and mocha. Good beer, better than I had hoped. Getting a stock in the fridge
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 redpooba (173) - New York, USA - MAR 2, 2012
It is a beer dark and complex as the label would imply but ’triple stout’ does not mean darker and bolder. There are more spices and roasted malts mixed together than other stouts.
