Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Hazy chestnut pour with an average frothy diminishing off-white head (3+). Buttery, harsh aroma - the taste is a bit better, subdued butter, more caramel and some floral bitterness, as well as a hint of orange ... average body, slightly harsh and bitter linger: pretty characterless and not very good.

[2565-20091031] Cask. Sweet syrupy tree bark aroma. Slightly hazy, medium orange brown body with no head. Sweet bold malt syrup flavour is a little whiskey-esque. Medium body. Very sweet, a little overly sweet actually.

Cask at Volo Cask Days ’09. Pours a dark brownish red with small tan head. Sweet caramel malts big in the nose with some nuttiness and fruit. Taste is more melllow sweet-wise with more fruit presence. Slight bitter finish. Particularly enjoyed this one.

Volo Cask Days 2009. Strong aroma of alcohol, and cognac sweetness. Flavor was more or the same. Lots of sweet malts, and some sweet boozey notes with touches of cherry in the finish.

Enjoyed on cask at Volo 2009 cask days. A strong aroma, some roast and fruiitiness. Taste is coffee-ish roast, weak body. Dark brown with good bubbly head. Some citrus. Off the mark as an old ale, and has the consistent sourness of MacLeans, that detracted from flavour.

2009-10-31. Crisp brown body with a tiny frothy beige head. 3+ Fruity caramel malt aroma is pleasant. Flavour is nice, malt forward, caramel, English malt profile, light balancing bitterness. 7+ Smooth average to medium bodied palate. Pretty solid. Cask at Volo Cask Days 2009
