COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark malt beer which is brewed to give an excellent balance to the palate. The characteristic aromatics and flavour being derived from the inclusion of dark malts. Black Mac has a good head, is full bodied, and contains sufficient sweetness to compliment the hop bitterness. Brewed using choice Motueka hops and quality barley. Black Mac contains no added chemicals, preservatives or colouring

A dark red beer with a light brown disappearing head. The aroma is sweet and slightly smoked. The flavor starts on a thin note but then comes a good malt flavor of roasted malt - though a little flat. The carbondioxide prickles the tongue, it ends on a slight sweet and bitter note. This beer has no body. All in all it is a weird beer - it has some good traits but also some bad ones.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2008 (On tap Courtesy of yalnikim. Dark brown - close to black - with a creamy, beige head leaving some laces. Lightly sweet, hard roasted malt aroma. Medium in body with lightly sweet, hard roasted malt accents and a somewhat malt bitter finish. Drinkable indeed. 310108

(Bottle 33,5 cl) A beer that certainly lives up to it’s name, this really is black albeit with a reddish tint. Light brown, creamy head. Malty, lightly burned, but also with a strange tang of bon-bons or something - actually very unpleasant. I fail to believe this is intentional. Hope it’s a faulty beer. 3/2/3/1/6=1.5 100204

Bottled: Certainly not the best brown ale I had. Red/brown coloured. Light brown head. Metallic and vague aroma. Flavour is significant better than the aroma, but it dosn’t say much. Light malt and hops and some roastyness. Is light bitter and dry in the end.

330 ml bottle. Dark brown ruby tinted beer with a thin tan head. Nice sweet malty aroma, molasses, toasted nuts, chocolate and toffee. Flavour is slightly sweet with a touch of sourness. Chewy licorice, molasses, toffee malts. A bit of toast. Hints of chocolate and coffee with faint roastiness.

330mL awesome bottle as always. Pour is a clear, cola brown with a thin, tan head with very little retention. Aroma is strong milk chocolate, rich caramel, burnt caramel, cookie dough, toast. Taste is sessionable, rich dark malts, cola sweetness, slightly bitter. Fresh, lively, bitter on the palate. Very well made and easily enjoyable.

Dark reddish brown, small tan head. Caramel, chocolate, biscuit aromas that carry over to the palate, along with some faintly bitter hops. Balanced and tasty.

This dark brown ale pours with a modest tan head. There is a malty, banana taste with a slight chocolate finish. One of the few drinkable ales found in New Zealand.
