COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A light-coloured lager conditioned over 30 days. It has a good head, balanced sweet/bitter palate and a clean aftertaste. Brewed for the connoisseur, Macís Gold is brewed using only choice Motueka hops and quality barley. The bottom fermentation process of brewing by using a gravity system produces a naturally-brewed, all malt lager that contains no added chemicals, preservatives or colouring.

Immeasurably popular beer in New Zealand but Iím not sure whyÖ.i guess people like itís marketing, just another golden lager from a long line up of similar products.

Poured a good gold colour, a strong head and the original taste was malty and that was all folks.Easy going down one you can go back for more even though it did lack bitterness it was a nice drop,so pleasant. It has a slightly low alchohol content but I would not say it is a weak beer, very well made.Mushrooms came to mind as a flavourwhile I was drinking this beer.

Draught, a bright gold with a filmy head. A simple hoppy aroma. The palate is very dry, with grassy flavours. It gets more earthy through the swallow and the finish is very soily.

Sampled on Flashyís tour of LA, New Zealand and Hong Kong of September/October 2007 - Not bad. Quite sweet, malty and smooth, but not much to write home about.

Bottle from my new local indy. Pours a pale straw colour with a fluffy but persistent head, no real aroma to speak of which leads to a grassy slightly citrus flavour. Nothing special.

A straw coloured lager with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Bland tasting with faint metallic notes. Some hop flavour. Overall, a pretty ordinary beer.

Bottle from the cave. Intresting opening divise. Aroma is lager malt, quite sweet with herbal hop character im not keen on. Taste is similar however very highly carbonated to the level that its not easy to drink.

Bottle, VC, Myaree, WA Bright golden colour, Aromas is citrus, grainey and mild. Flavour is zesty citrus, dry with very little malt, and some subtle hops flavours. OK, But pales in comparison to most of this companyís output.

Ooo a pull ring! Havenít seen these on a beer in many a long year. Slightly sweet corn-like malt with a bit of grass and bready yeast. Pours a straw body with a thin white head. Chalky sort of texture to the beer, bit thin. Corny malts dominate the body, some bread-like flavours with some floral hop character towards a dry finish. Unremarkable really.
