2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from my new local indy. Pours a pale straw colour with a fluffy but persistent head, no real aroma to speak of which leads to a grassy slightly citrus flavour. Nothing special.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
A straw coloured lager with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Bland tasting with faint metallic notes. Some hop flavour. Overall, a pretty ordinary beer.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from the cave. Intresting opening divise. Aroma is lager malt, quite sweet with herbal hop character im not keen on. Taste is similar however very highly carbonated to the level that its not easy to drink.

2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle, VC, Myaree, WA
Bright golden colour, Aromas is citrus, grainey and mild. Flavour is zesty citrus, dry with very little malt, and some subtle hops flavours. OK, But pales in comparison to most of this company’s output.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Ooo a pull ring! Haven’t seen these on a beer in many a long year. Slightly sweet corn-like malt with a bit of grass and bready yeast. Pours a straw body with a thin white head. Chalky sort of texture to the beer, bit thin. Corny malts dominate the body, some bread-like flavours with some floral hop character towards a dry finish. Unremarkable really.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Cabbagey, metallic aroma is somewhat tart with some grainy notes. Brilliantly clear golden body is topped by a light white head that recedes to ring. Flavour is also grainy with underlying DMS offset by floral hops and light bitterness. Light, somewhat watery texture to the body with fair carbonation. Bottle (Gift, Jan-07) sampled with Oakes in June 2007. Thanks, E!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Difficult to undo the strange top which wasn’t a very good start. Slightly dry with a clean taste but not a lot of distinctive flavour. For some reason I had expected a more complex and interesting beer rather than the average one that I got.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
A dull boring brew with no readily apparent redeeming features. Poured a flat head and then a soft drink maltiness. Maybe needs greater alcohol content. Disappointing.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This beer seems to be held up as an icon in NZ, but why? Sure it has a somewhat romantic brewery story behind it (although it is now owned by Lion breweries, who in turn are majority owned by Kirin), but the beer doesn’t measure up. It looks okay, but the flavour has (as another rater called it) a hint of sour citric. Something just doesn’t taste right. I think it is a poor "craft" beer.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a pale golden colour with a medium rather short white head. Aroma of malt and some hops with a little sweetness. The flavour has a pleasant maltiness, bit sweet and hoppy. The finish is dry with a mild bitterness. Nothing great but not bad at all.
