2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 yngwie (9205) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - OCT 28, 2007
Bottle. Slightly hazy, yellowish golden beer with a white head. Citrus and some spiceyness in the aroma. The flavor has citrus, pale malt, spices, some bitterness and a hint of cellar. Thin body. Citrusy, lightly spiced finish. The beer has a nice aroma, but it is a bit one-dimentional, the citrus is overpowering the other flavors and aromas. (070914)
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 HarryFlashman (469) - Chatham, Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2007
Sampled on Flashy’s tour of LA, New Zealand and Hong Kong of September/October 2007 - This is OK. It’s an attempt at a Belgian blanche biere, like Hoegaarden, but it’s much to sweet. A little like Kronenbourg’s poor effort of Kronenbourg Blanc.

Forewarned a year ago by an importer this is just a relabelled ’Blonde Mac’ I put off trying it up ’til now. Expectations being low it did surprisingly well, to be honest. Straight into a witbier tumbler fresh chilled from the fridge. It pours a palish ’Lemsip™’ looking, faintly hazy, lemony yellow with a thin, densely formed crown of white that doesn’t do well to leave much evidence behind on the glass. Some lightly herbal, fresh, spicy, nutmeg and lemon cordial laced notes greet the nose. Quite creamy, fluffy in the mouth, and leaning on soda-stream lemonade in flavour - almost watery. Nutmeg again, some chives, a sweet front that lingers of fruit sugars like pear drops; a little lemon and wheat-malt notes around the mid-section. Tangy, zingy, slightly sour finish with more rough cut fresh herbs in the swallow. Altogether working in balance, it doesn’t hurt the palate as too bad a quaffer. It took ten minutes to review and the glass was empty, so bonus points. (33cL, 21/09/07, The Beer Store Morley)
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 bluevegie (2932) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 10, 2007
Pale straw, almost lemon coloured with a short white head. Some light spice on the nose but mainly yeast notes. Thin body with not a lot of character, although a lot easier to drink than the witbier I had earlier tonight.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 9, 2007
Tasted 03/01/2007. 330ml bottle from New World, Miramar.
Pale straw, watery almost, with a thin, fluffy, white head that droops and fades. Aroma is very mild, cornflour, wheat, and just a hint of spice. Mild again in the mouth, quite watery, with more of that cornflour-like mealiness coming through. A little wheat and spice on the palate. Slight bite in the carbonation, as you’d expect, but there’s not enough flavour to balance it. Not a patch on a good condition Verboden Vice (which it replaced). Tastes a little like 4 parts wit, 1 part soda water.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 bozoNZ (672) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 25, 2007
330 ml bottle - Very pale straw coloured. Relatively clear but noticed there was some sediment still stuck in the bottom. Soapy head that disappears relatively quickly. Description says "bananas, bubblegum, & turkish delight....etc’. Maybe it was left stuck in the bottom of the bottle. for me it was a bit soapy. A touch of citrus & coriander & got the wheat near the end but overall not for me thanks.
