COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Hoppy Best Bitter with a combination of flavours including nutty, biscuity characters from the 5 malts, fruity esters and the contrasting flavour of the NZ Saaz hops. These flavours meld together resulting in this intriguing and balanced beer.

Hoppy nose, I reckon hops were added late as an after thought. as very plain beer. Is red in colour with small head.

Bottle. A collision between sweet fruity and nutty malts, and some decent hops. Toffee and caramel notes too, before a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Pours a deep red colour with an off-white head. Aroma is quite malty with nutty and biscuity notes. Taste is also quite malty with some nuts, biscuit and fruit leading to a dry bitter finish from saaz hops. Not bad.

A nicely hopped beer which is not too overpowering. Colour is a nice amber red and has a nice soft carbonation.

No doubt this is a complex beer, bit I’m not sure it works necessarily. There’s not too much on the nose, but looks great in the glass with a clear red colour and a small dissipating head. The taste is a blend of malts with fruity but not overpowering hops. Doesn’t linger much. Interesting, but I’m not sure it all comes together.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Light red-amber pour with a small white head. Toasted biscuit and nutty tones show themselves on the nose. Sweet caramel/toffee/honey (I’m getting a little of each) and floral hops in the taste. OK but not my thing

(bottle) pours a clear copper colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of straciatella, butterscotch and milk chocolate, quite bready. flavour is heavy on chewy roasted malts, with additional notes of dark fruits and floral hops. medium-bodied with average carbonation and a light bitter finish.

UPDATED: JUL 24, 2011 Tap @ Mac’s Northern Steamship. Clear, light amber pour with a short white head leaving heavy lace. Malty nose.Medium body and carbonation. Refreshing, nutty, toasty bitter with pine and citrus hops. A touch of fruit balances it nicely - my new favorite Macs!

Pours dark amber/red with a large but short-lasting head. Nose shows generous amounts of toasty, nutty malt with some caramel in there too. In the way of hops there’s a faint fruity character. Loving the malt though. Some of the nutty malt transfers through as a flavours but overall the malt profile seems overly metallic. Finishes with a weak bitterness and that metallic character. Carbonation is much too high.

great red look to the beer. low carbonation upon opening. Pours very clearly, and tastes much like a UK bitter. Small amounts of maltiness. Mild to the taste. Smooth palate (low carbonation). Would be a good session beer.

330mL. Awesome bottle and pull off cap. Pour is clear, deeper orange to amber with an excellent, yellow to tan head with great rocky retention and great lace. Aroma is all rye malt, earthy rye. Taste is rye malt, rich malty, earthy, dirty, raw grains, fennel. Pretty solid.
