COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich, amber hue and full-bodied flavor begin with roasted, domestic caramel malt. It’s sweetness is then tempered with genuine Cascade hops, which are added again at the end of the boil for a distinctive, citric-floral aroma.

Bottom line...pretty good beer. Seems a bit more bland than I had expected... Maybe because I had 4 beers prior to tasting this one. I do like the nose. There is a distinct malt flavor in this clear amber beer. I will admit..it left more lace in my glass than I have seen in some time.

Very good beer, drink with a steak or something meaty. Not the best aftertaste though. I hate that it is related to the Black Watch beer.

Doesn’t settle well on the tongue; sweetness in the aroma fails to carry over into taste.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2007 Updated from bottle labelled Macs Ale. Darkish amber, or browny-orange color. Nice Britishy ale aroma, with hints of molasses, caramel and toffee, and a citric spicy hop. Flavor very balanced, with a medium toffee malt backbone and a lightly spicy and floral hop presence, leading to a balanced finish. Seems just a tad light on the body but otherwise a good amber. Total score of 3.4 unchanged from original rating, but I’m reversing the flavor and aroma scores, as I find this beer smells a tad better than it tastes.

Sweet, candy nose and some flavors. Dough and fruit in the malt, clean and a bitter finish. Much better at the brewery than from the bottle.

A strange brew to define, smooth full bodied palate is almost porter like, while balance of malt and bitter finish certainly give this a PNW amber feel.
