2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 brenn79 (1198) - Idaho, USA - NOV 20, 2009
22 oz bottle- Pours deep golden with a nice head and decent lacing, aroma is of malt and I can already tell i’m not going to like this too much. Flavor is malty with an underlying bitterness, every time I try another one of these things (amber ales) I am reminded why I dont care for them. If it wasn’t for the appearance it wouldn’t have any redeeming qualities
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 ROGUE (1566) - Newark, Delaware, USA - NOV 5, 2009
12oz bottle. Pours a deep reddish gold color with a thick foamy white head. Aroma is sweet malts and lightly toasted grains with faint hops. Sweet malts dominate the flavor up front with bitter notes of oily hops and citrus. The mouthfeel is light to medium and is quite smooth.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Barreras (608) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - NOV 4, 2009
Pours a clear brown color with minimal tan foam. Aroma of sweet caramel and slight fruity hops. Tastes a little bitter for an amber ale. The beer got better as I drank it but overall I wasn’t too impressed. An okay amber ale with nothing special about it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 poisoneddwarf (1307) - Rathdrum, Idaho, USA - OCT 30, 2009
22 oz bottle. Smells...hoppy. A little strange for an amber. I was expecting a more malty aroma. Also smells of citrus. Pours deep copper with a decent head, decent lacing. Tasting: more like a pale (in the Sierra Nevada tradition) than any amber I’ve had. The hops clearly overpower the malt. I like hops more than malt, but given that this is labelled as an amber, I think it’s a bit...confused. Maybe it should just come out of the closet and admit that it’s a pale.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Papsoe (25131) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2009
On tap. Clear, pale amber with a small off-white head. Lightly sweet malty nose with a whiff of perfumy hops. Medium-bodied, roasted malt and caramel accents before a dry and lightly hoppy finish. 250709
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ditmier (1509) - Boise, Idaho, USA - SEP 1, 2009
2009 Bottle - Pours clear brown with a small tan head...aroma is biscuity malt and a bit of grain, some hops as well...flavour is similar, decently bitter, with a little nut and some grain as well...hard to make a passable amber, this was decent, still probably won’t buy again just because the style isn’t great...I’ll know a great amber when I feel like drinking it more than once...
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 wcampbell (721) - Clemson, South Carolina, USA - AUG 25, 2009
Decent for an amber, but otherwise weak and boring. Lots of caramel malts with a little balance from faint hops. Lightly sweet, but not too much. Needs something else to be good at all. A little watery and thin. Not terrible, fairly drinkable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 badlizard (5156) - Berkeley, California, USA - AUG 9, 2009
Clear golden with a fizzy white head. Simple clean sweet malt aroma. Fairly well balanced taste with evident hop bitterness and a clean finish.
