2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured out of a 22oz bottle a slightly hazy copper with a light head. The aroma is light, sweet and fruity. The low bitterness adds some weight on your tongue, and I swear I taste apricots. Too mellow for my tastes, but a better than average amber.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 6/21/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toffee, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus hops and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toasted biscuit, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Light floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toasted biscuit, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice balance and solid robustness of citrus hops and dark/bready malt; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly thin mouthfeel that is okay. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a pretty solid amber ale. Well balanced citrus hop and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. Could use some more flavor and body, but pretty enjoyable otherwise.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber at home. Pours an amber-gold clear beer with a little haze, no big deal. The head is finger-width, off-white, pillowy, and persistent. The aroma is cereal malts and slight toast with bready sourness. Once you dive into this head you get mostly roasty malts with slight sweetness, quickly overpowered by the cascade hops, which round out the taste with classic bitterness. Pleasant overall, but I like my ambers just a little less hoppy.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Hangar on the Wharf before the Alaskan Brewing Companyís festivities of dishing out their Kvass with BrewDogs.
This one was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a decent hazy amber to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that left some sporadic messy lacing here and there.
The smell had a dampened and somewhat rich caramel roasted maltiness. Eventually as it warmed, there was a light herbal and almost earthy weirdness coming through.
The taste was mainly sweet but through the caramel entranced maltiness. As it warmed, there was a light toasty/nuttiness trying to come through.
On the palate, this one sat right about a medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation was decent for the style and okay to me. It was nothing bad, but nothing outstanding.
Overall, decent amber ale to have again, probably not one to seek out.

Bottle, as "Portland Imperial Macís". Pours a clear amber color with a small white head on it. Nose is a bit bready with a fair amount of caramel in it. Taste is a bit sweet and pleasantly effervescent (after drinking some sake), with a slightly bitter backbone.
