Not too familiar with Porters at this point, so I may have to come back in rejudge this one later. But for an introduction to porters, it treated me fairly well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a middling porter. The coffee and chocolate you’d expect, though more watery. A tad bit of licorice.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Serving type: bottle
Aroma- Roasted malt, coffee and chocolate.
A-Dark Dark brown almost black with a quickly disappearing tan head, very little lacing.
T/P- Tasted is of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Seems to be a little bit over carbonated.
D- A good porter, this is easy to drink before a meal, with a meal, or after a meal or all three. Found myself wanting another one after I finished the first. It is very good for a light tasting porter.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2013 This sounds like an awesome beer. I really need to try it again, to freshen up my memory of it.
3 years later I am trying it again. MacTarnahan’s is now known as Portland Brewing Company. Tastes amazing, maybe even better. So creamy and smooth.

The aroma is sweet cream, roasty, dark chocolate. The appearance is black, small tan head. The flavor is bittersweet chocolate, The body is thin/medium, a little thin for the style. The finish is a subtle but lingering piney hop bitterness. Decent porter, nice aroma, flavor, ttoo thin for the style.
