Growler shared at the MacTarnahanís event at The BeerMongers... Poured deep brown, near black with a thin, khaki head. Nose had some burnt sugary tones, with some caramel and pastry sweetness. Subtle, low carbonation. Nutty flavors, lots of cocoa sweetness, lactose flavors, honey, oats, and woody oak tones. Short of fell short though.

Extra thanks to Eric for the bomber, 2003 vintage! Poured clear deep brown with a nice deeper tan head when resuscitated.. looked OK. The aroma picked up sweet, toasted vanilla, bourbon, and oak upfront, with deeply-diminished porter beneath.. buttery chocolates and more vanilla down there.. mild oxidation showed with light cardboard.. soft and pleasant, but a shadow of its former self (Iím guessing). The flavor found more of the buttery chocolates, bourbon, and vanilla at the core.. tart oak played nicely throughout, leaving a tasty, tangy finish with the bourbon.. everything came together well. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate with low carbonation.. the barrel has more character than the base beer at this point.. this held up well considering a lot of factors, but itís no longer great.

This is a good beer if you havenít had your expectations raised by a quality beer such as Fullerís London Porter. Itís a decent for a microbrew of the States, but you can do better with an import from Europe.

This was the best beer MacTís ever brewed, and Iím glad I was able to have it a couple times before they stopped making it. Deep brown pour with red hints to it, minimal lacing. Aroma is all chocolate and bourbon, some light roasted malt. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla and bourbon with again a light roastiness. Medium mouthfeel and oh so delicious. I hope that they someday brew this again.

2003 Bomber shared by Eric, thanks man for this absolute gem. Pours a pure black color with a medium size light brown head. The aroma was amazing; bourbon, some vanilla, slightly sour wood and some roasted malts. A very nice aroma, very enticing. The taste was excellent also; very light and slightly sour wood flavors, a perfect balance of bourbon and more traditional porter flavors. After five years the body has become a bit less creamy and full, but still very nice. An awesome beer. Thanks Eric.

22 oz. bottle via trade with PhillyBeer2112 quite some time ago. I shared this with highibus a couple months ago and I’m finally getting around to entering it. Pours a dark brown color with a small light tan head. No lacing. Aroma is light roasted malt and bourbon. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, and bourbon. Light to medium body. I thought it held up quite well for its age. A good beer. Thanks Dan.

Thanks to Aaron for this one. Dark brown body. Aroma is a sweet caramel and chocolate. Flavor is similar while the bourbon is hardly noticeable. Fairly thin bodied.
