Bomber from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. Pours very dark brown/black with a foamy tan head. Smells like fresh roast coffee. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is fresh coffee with dark, smooth toasted malt. Nothing subtle here. Nicely flavored brew.

Stumptown coffee sounds like we’re off to a great start. Moderate coffee aroma, dry. Medium bodied with a respectable tan head that stuck nicely to the glass. Little boozy sting, light bodied for an impy stout, aggressive soggy coffee ground flavor. Doesn’t match the mouthfeel or the flavor base of what I think of as an impy stout, but all of the parts are there. More like a strong coffee stout? Seems like I’m splitting hairs.

Kudos to MacTarnahans. This is far from a supreme Imperial Stout, but a solid attempt all the way through (and a step up from what they’ve lately been producing). Poured black with a thin, tanish head. Aroma of coffee, with a little but of roasted nuts. Foamy texture which left a film on my tongue after swallowing. Roasted, smokey, coffee and malts. Not much going on with hops and a bit of a kick at the end.

Bomber served in a snifter. High hopes for this? I say not, but interested to see what Mac’s could do with an imperial stout. Served at room temp. Black coffee in color with a small tan-gray head. Nose is coffee, dark chocolate, and roasty. Medium body with quite a bit of carbonation. Flavor is coffee, burnt toast, and char. Bitter dark chocolate finish.

Black with a beige head. Strong notes of coffee with a slight alcohol smell. Great coffee taste with a malty finish. Excellent Imperial Stout, especially for the price

22 oz. bottle. Colour... black with no head, even when poured from a foot above the glass. Nose... strong whiff of coffee, but dissipates quickly. Palate... smooth, mild coffee, some bitterness around the sides of the palate, lightly roasty, some vanilla. Much too easy drinking for 9%!

Bottle. Poured black with thick fast dissipating beige head. Aroma of roast and coffee. Malty flavour, with coffee notes, but not very many. Light, lasting malt finish.
