3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerbastard (501) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - JAN 23, 2013Black pour with some lacing from a tan disappearing head. Very mild aromas of malts, licorice and coffee. Tastes of dark fruits with some coffee in the background. Flavor is a little stronger but still wimpy. Some dryness in the finish. Nothing bad, but nothing stands out. Wouldn’t get it again.

Bomber. Dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and faint alcohol. Medium to full body, good lacing. Lasting somewhat dry finish. Solid and affordable imperial.

Bottle shared by CLevar. Pours dark with some tan head. Aroma is coffee, but weak. Thinner than expected, lots of coffee, some bitterness from coffee and some roasty toasty malts.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bacterial (419) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - MAY 7, 2013
Bottle shared thanks to Clevar! Dark pour with a tan head. Not much going on in the nose. Taste is interesting, some sweetness, quickly followed by lots of roasted chocolate malt and bitterness. Coffee seems to provide some of the bitterness more than in the nose or the taste of this beer.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 mikedR (362) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Bitter stout. Pours black. As an imperial, I was expecting more body in the mouthfeel, particularly in light of the ABV of 9%. Coffee flavor not as pronounced as expected -- big flavors here are roasted malts and bitterness. Good, but was expecting "more."

22oz bomber pours with a dark body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up earthy malts, dark roasted malts, earthy coffee and a dash of sweet malts. The taste has nice layers of dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee and earthy milk chocolate along with a smattering of malt sweetness here and there. It approaches being burnt with black patent malts midway and into the finish. Pretty nice, this.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlowOffTube (53) - Michigan, USA - APR 28, 2013
Very good coffee imperial stout. Pours black with a tan head that stays. Smells of fresh roast coffee. Medium body with medium carbonation and big coffee taste and a hint of vanilla. Bittering coffee aftertaste. Very enjoyable.

Pours black with tan head. Aroma is smoke, licorice and oak. Taste follows nose with some vegetable qualities.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 superspak (1480) - Michigan, USA - MAR 21, 2013
22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, char, toast, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good strength and balance of roasted malt and coffee notes; decent complexity. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, roasted malt, cocoa, light char, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness. Light roasted coffee and pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, char, toast, dark bread, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance of roasted malt and coffee flavors; with a fair amount of robustness and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good imperial stout. Not very complex; but has a good balance of dark malt and coffee flavors; and is very smooth to sip on. An enjoyable offering.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jgb9348 (3967) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAR 17, 2013
Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, earth, vanilla, prunes and quite a bit of unfinished sugars. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong roasty malt flavours with some lighter prunes, plums, raisins and a pungent coffee kick with a hint of anise and licorice. Aftertaste shows some thinness - with the body not as robust as most imperial stouts, this shows more of a baltic porter flavour and profile with some good roasty and caramelised sugar flavours. Overall, a decent beer - but not a decent Imperial Stout - also the coffee and vanilla flavours are very muted. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Collection in Honoulu, Oahu, Hawaii on 10-December-2012 for US$4.75 (great deal!) sampled at home back on the mainland in Washington on 17-March-2013.

It poured a very dark brown/black color with a tan head. The aroma was of fresh roasted coffee. It had a medium body with mild carbonation. The taste was of fresh coffee with dark, smooth toasted malt. Very well done.
