Black with a thick brown head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, and chocolate. Flavor is slightly fruity up front, with cocoa and smoky tobacco notes emerging later. Dark roasted coffee finish. Perhaps a bit thin, and could use smoother/less carbonation. Nice dry stout though.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 RSRIZZO (1810) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - NOV 26, 2007
Had this beer on 5/6/1999. Color is a solid black with good carbonation and a thick head. Aroma is a sweet rich roasted malt scent. Taste is rich, smooth and roasted. It starts with a rich heavy body with a wonderful roasted malt flavor coming out. This goes down smooth with the roasted malt flavor growing. The finish comes on with the malt flavor peaking, followed by a light hop flavor and good hop bitterness. This is a ver good Stout

I forget who brought this to Paul’s party, but thanks.
Poured black with a fizzy brown head. Aroma is light bitter roasted coffee. Taste follows from the aroma, but with very little sweetness or balance. Somewhat thin-bodied. Not bad, but not all that interesting.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a large creamy light brown head that was mostly lasting and produced fair lacing. Average roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Medium smoky stout flavor with a good smooth long finish.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2008 [bottle - 12 oz] Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Looks just like it does on the label. Slight aroma of coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Very good stout smell. The flavor is a well-blended mix of chocolate, roasted malts and coffee with a slightly bitter coffee finish and a bitter aftertaste for a split second. There is a lot of smoky notes throughout the beer. I think this is very much under appreciated. It even tasted good warm.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 SDalkoholic (1769) - Chula Vista, California, USA - JUN 29, 2005
Emptied into the glass a pitch dark black, topped with a thin layer of head. The aroma holds a sweet and smokey profile being of roasted malt, chocolate, and licorice. The drink is average and is creamy while also having a fair carbonation level. Has a decent roast flavor to it up next to a mild hop bitterness. One of those beers i will remember i had before, but i won’t have anything in my memory to distinguish it by. Not to shabby of a dry stout.
