Commercial Description:
Here's further proof that a drinkable beer can also be an interesting beer. Our Zig Zag River Lager is smooth, mellow and aromatic, with an inviting flavor that strikes a balance between maltiness and hop bitterness. Zig Zag gets its name from the picturesque river that gathers icy snow-melt from the slopes of Mount Hood and carries it westward to the Willamette Valley.

Had this beer on 6/11/1999. Color is a deep bright gold with very good carbonation and a light head. Aroma is a light malt scent. Taste is light with a faint hop flavor on the end that reminds me of Coors Extra Gold. Starts with a medium light body and a bubbly feel. As it goes down a light malt flavor begins and grows as the finish comes on which is followed by a nice hop flavor and well balanced hop bitterness. Nice beer to drink.

Pours a clear golden yellow color. Aromas of grass, cheerios, and a touch of flowers. Flavor is kinda sweet to start, citrusy finish with some hop notes.

Sampled at the taproom. Light pale yellow in color, with a foamy white head. Faint flowery aroma that’s refreshingly clean smelling. Mild maltiness with a light hop flavor. Somewhat dry at the end. This was ok, just not a brew I would seek out.

At the Portland tap room. Dark golden with a thin head. Another very malty beer, sweet and grainy. Tart appley finish. Not bad.

Pours a dark yellow with good head, and left a nice lace. Light citrus aroma. Fairly small fruit flavor. Nice clean palate. Nice for a lager but nothing really shines.

Tastes like a lager, but not too bad. It's not very flavorsome but has some very nice subtleties in the flavor. A very floral hop presence is there but without the bitterness of the boiled hops. Very clean and crisp with an average body.

Very nice easy drinking lager with a good amount of malt and flavor. A very good product. Just when I thought I hated all Lagers. This beer blew me away.
