Tap at Mad Anthony. Straightforward brown chocolate notes. Sweet, sort of sugary. Too thick. Crystal malt caramel. Almost OK?

tap at the Fort Wayne brewpub (Mar 10, 2012) - Pours dark brown with a huge light tan head and heavy lacing. It smells of roast malt and coffee. The flavor is of sweet roast malt, some coffee, and mild bitterness. It’s a rather light bodied brew that was better the 2nd time I had it when it wasn’t following a sour ale. Drinking order matters!

On tap at Mad Anthony in Warsaw, IN. Pours a dark brown with a creamy off white head. The aroma is roast, smoke, burning leaves. The taste is light sweetness, smoke, roast, and a dry finish. It’s ok but nothing special.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at brewery. Poured a small creamy/smooth tan head that was mostly lasting, a good amount of lacing, opaque body, and no visible carbonation. The aroma was dark, rich malts, some hints of yeast and lightly hoppy. The flavor was malty, semi-sweet, lightly hoppy, and lightly roasty. The mouthfeel was tingly and this is a medium bodied Lager beer. Overall, I truly liked this beer as I enjoyed the way the aroma and flavors came together. This beer is worthy of a try as I would definitely drink it again. Hats off to the brewers on this beer!

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Small foamy head of finely sized tan colored long lasting bubbles that left behind a hazy brown red colored body with no visible carbonation and a very good lacing. The nice mouthfeel was bubbly and tingly from start to its roasty finish leaving behind a woody flavor on the tongue. The aroma was a non descript mild dark malt. The flavor was very tasty but a tad over carbonated .
