shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2007 6/07/2007: Mad Anthony IPA a hazy orange in color with a whispy crown. The aroma is sugary citrus hops. Light toffee malt is underneath a mild to moderate grapefruit bitterness in the flavor. This beer has a medium-light body and is clean and smooth on the palate. I was expecting an IPA, but this beer more like a Pale Ale. It’s still pretty good either way although a little more bitterness would have been welcomed.
12 oz bottle (6.5% A.B.V.) from The Hop Shop in Indianapolis, Indiana. Shared with Rob at our weekly/bi-weekly beer tasting.
EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA May 18, 2007 Bottle. Aroma has nice sweetish hops, grapefruit with light pine, citrus, and caramel. Dash of passionfruit. Deep, dark, clear orange body with a soapy eggshell head. Light body and only light bitterness, touch of astringency with nice, clean pine notes. Touch of resin and a good deal of orange coming through. Caramel lingers the longest. By no means extreme, this is a solid, easy-drinking session. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2007 Bottle courtesy of lewis13. Pours a hazy, very bubbly orange-amber with a large somewhat lasting creamy off-white head. Nice pine & citrus hops aroma along with sweet malt and some spices -- simple but pleasant. Slightly mild flavour follows the aroma: pine and citrus hops backed by sweet malt and a decent bitter finish. Alcohol’s completely hidden. Medium bodied. Nothing groundbreaking here, just simply a good IPA, I’d easily quaff several. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 10, 2007 Bottle...thanks sliffy...thanks alot. Orange pour with a light tan head. Aroma of celery salt and some other vegital elements. Falvors of earthy hops and vegitable soup. Medium body, vegital throughout with a bitter finish. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 9, 2007 Bottle: Pours a hazy light copper color with an off white head. Aroma, urine and vegetables, earthy hops. Flavor, a definite vegetable flavor, kinda reminded me of celery, some pale and caramel malts, earthy hops on the very end. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA May 6, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clearer orangey amber with quite a few floaties. Normal sized leaves some lacing behind. Nose is piney with fruit(apples). Flavor continues on that theme and somewhat sweet. This is very fruit forward with a persistant but not overbearing hoppiness. Really good all in all, colour and taste. Thanks to lewis13 for this one. merlin48 (509), New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA Mar 26, 2007 First time I’ve seen Mad Anthony in the Evansville area. Pours a chill hazed peach body with a small almond hued head. Some patchy lacing. Aroma is pine and grapefruit with an odd sour apple note. Medium body and carbonation. Taste is grassy hops with some pine and citrus rind. Subtle caramel sweetness. Passable, but pedestrian. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Mar 4, 2007 pours clear orange amber with a small disappearing off white head. good balanced aroma. typical ipa...a bit light for my taste.... but very good. nice citrus hop caramel malt blend. flavor sweet toasted caramel malt with some nutty notes nice bitter hop backbone. slightly weak bitter nutty hop finish. medium body nice moderate carbonation. solid but nothing i will go looking for again.
