Rastacouere (5552), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jan 25, 2009 Clear amber brew with a large white head. A clean and slightly bready malt base accompanies the orangey, tea-like American hoppiness. Quite a typical IPA, not venturing out of the path created by its predecessors, but staying clean with gentle acidity and fresh juicy citrus flavours. Sometimes, this is what you want, but the concurrence is heavy in that department, so clearly, this is aimed at the local market and depends greatly on its pricing.
hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2005 Well here it is, my 1100th rating at ratebeer. Bottle acquired in trade with atpayne (thanks!). Poured a medium, cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of juicy oranges and light pine. Tastes of oranges, some grapefruit and pine with some light caramel lurking in the background. Medium bitterness. Medium amount of lacing was left on my glass. hopscotch (5441), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Dec 26, 2006 Bottle... Hazy amber ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Earthy nose with gobs of caramel/crystal malt, light pine and English or Willamette hops? Leans on the bitter side of balance, but has a solid malt backbone. Black tea and lemon/orange peel notes. Medium to full-bodied and milky with understated carbonation. Lightly bitter, balanced finish. Nice English style IPA! Thanks to MI2CA for providing this bottle! bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 3, 2009 ( 12oz bottle, courtesy of thirdeye11 ) Pours an amber body with a medium white head. Aroma of pine, some dirty socks, and citrus. Flavor of hops (pine, orange, earth, grapefruit) and caramel malt with moderate bitterness in the finish. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Aug 17, 2006 Bottle: Pours a clear copper orange with a frothy, nicely-lacing off-white head. Fresh piney resinous hoppy aroma has a good earthy caramel malty backbone. Body starts fairly full and sweet with some toasty notes and plenty of sticky piney hop resin and a touch of grapefruit flavor. A nice, flavorful, balanced, and drinkable IPA. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2008 @Indiana Beerfest-12oz bottle-pours a thin white head that laces and yellow color. Aroma is northwest hops-lemon/pine (Amarillo & cascade?). taste is dry, northwest hops-lemon/pine (Amarillo & cascade?)-some bitter, some light malt. OK/mild carbonation.
MartinT (5030), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Piney hop resins lather the honeyed cereals, planting a vigorous coniferous and leafy bitterness that concludes this solid American IPA.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the hazy blondish-amber.
-This is balanced in its intensity.
-The body is quite nourishing and contains a few dextrins too many for my tastes in the style.
-Orangey fruitiness also stems from the hop bill, a citrusy character which seems to latch on the sweet cereals throughout.
