3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 patrick767 (2843) - fort wayne, USA - APR 18, 2007
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2007 tap at the brewpub - Pours up a slightly hazy copper with a one finger head that leaves nice lacing. Citrus and pine hops dominate the aroma. The flavor has moderately strong, crisp hops with citrus notes and that oat/malt backing. It didn’t seem as dry as the Rye-P-A to me. Medium bodied, it has a long hoppy finish that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
I need to look again, but if I remember right a note for the bartenders about this beer, besides listing the abv of 6.5%, calls it an APA.
2nd taste - I had another half pint and changed my mind. I’m not sure why I listed it as an IPA before. It’s a hoppy, high abv version of it, but it’s an APA.
Keep experimenting, MA!
3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 thedm (4126) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 3, 2007
This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent strong bubbly carbonation golden brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was malty and dough. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt and sweet. A decent one that I would consider buying again. One of Todd Granthams better brews.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - APR 19, 2007
On tap at MABC. Small ivory head that was mostly lasting, excellent lacing, minimal visible carbonation, transparent, and an orange with some gold for the hue. Nose was citrus and pine hops with a hint of caramel. Flavor was rather strong citrus, pine hops. Smooth, thin mouthfeel. Light-medium body. Lingering hoppy aftertaste. Good, decent brew, but just too hoppy for my palate.
